Great - Don't use Windex or BKF. What am I going to do with this gallon of Windex from Costco now? :ROFLMAO:

I think a lot of people looked at Windex and BKF as easy to obtain products they were familiar with. Gallon should last you a month with a CT or the rest of your life if not using on CT!

So my tint / wrap people have told me to NEVER use a glass cleaner that contains ammonia, for my ceramic coated windshields. Perfect Glass was their recommendation.
For years I have been using windshield washing fluid, diluted to clean my outside glass, also to remove hard alkaline water spots. Cuts grease, oil and no film. I plan to try that on the fingerprint issue, I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks to Cybergirl on the ONR product heads up,

Windex makes an ammonia-free glass cleaner - wouldn't this be ok to use instead of the regular Windex?

I've been using Optimum's ONR to clean my CT. It comes as a concentrate (1oz per 2 gallons of water). One $19 bottle with make 64 gallons of cleaner. It removes finger prints on the stainless steel completely. It seems to resist new finger prints, as well. I use it to clean the whole truck inside and out using microfiber cloths.

Thanks. Great tip!

ONR is legit. Yes windex makes ammonia free but kinda hard to get. ONR works REALLY well at fingerprints.

So I decided to do a simple ph test on Windex myself...

Windex has long been used synonymously in slang with Glass Cleaner, but it's important to recognize that it is a very strong cleaner that typically contain ammonia.

It was also so strongly alkaline - reading off the scale. Also off the scale reading on PH.

But I was surprised to see what is considered an unsafe level of lead, and also high Manganese and Copper. I suppose you are not drinking it here, still plenty of skin contact and vapors...

Yes it is a strong cleaner, but clearly it's not ph neutral, and also Ammonia is known to be damaging to Stainless Steel, especially if used repeatedly.

The pH of Windex Original is 10.7. pH is a logarithmic scale. 30% industrial ammonium hydroxide water solution has a pH of 11.7 or 10 times stronger. Windex is considered to be a weak base. It won't hurt your refrigerator, CyberTruck, or you. I'm a chemical engineer and worked in the Windex manufacturing plant.

Ammonia is "not great" for stainless steel, but brief exposure from consumer-grade low concentrations should be relatively safe. Long exposure at high concentrations and heat are known to attack stainless, but IDK if repeated applications of Windex might have a cumulative effect.

There's also that accidentally leaving it would attract salt-creating reactions.
