It was my opinion from the original announcement that Cybertrucks should be highly modular but only one trim (a midish/high spec) and no factory options. Lower prices through simplicity and scale or loss-leading to take market share from the legacy manufacturers. Also they could make money though tons of mods done at a Tesla service for people that want something different from the factory spec. Looks like they are going that direction.

now it's time to focus & produce a smaller Cybertruck for both US & international market. My reservation is still intact.
Ram all electric pick up is also cancelled-said there's no demand. But MSM & haters will blast Cybertruck cancellation loud & clear.
How do you make it smaller without requiring more tooling and using the same assembly line?

There are three major categories of consumer vehicles: sedans, SUVs, and pickups.

Tesla makes an expensive sedan (Model S) and an inexpensive sedan (Model 3).
Tesla makes an expensive SUV (Model X) and an inexpensive SUV (Model Y).
Tesla makes an expensive pickup (Cybertruck).

It's not hard to spot the gap in their product lineup. So yeah, a smaller, less expensive pickup does seem like the best bet for a new model that would significantly boost Tesla vehicle sales. However, I don't see any signs that Tesla is developing one.

Tesla Cybertruck BREAKING: RWD (Single Motor) Cybertruck Discontinued. The Cybertruck now starts at $79,990 {filename}

Seriously though, I’d be happy with an upgraded CB package with unlocked speed limiter and matching speed-rated wheel/tire/brake setup.
YES. I’d love to see a “track package” for the Beast with wheels/tires/brakes that unlocks a top speed of 160+. I’d buy that in a heartbeat. I’ve gotten mine up to 132 mph more times than I can count and you can tell the motors have more to give but are limited by the software, which limits speed because of the speed rating of the tires.

Glad to hear you’re going to be an owner soon. I’ve owned mine for 16 months and it’s by far the best vehicle I have ever owned or driven. And I’ve had a lot of German luxury and experience with a few Italian sports cars . In fact, if god forbid I ever totaled my CT, I would buy another one in a second. There is absolutely nothing else I would rather drive.

I just saw the only RWD CT in my city. Pretty interesting. I like the fabric seat covers. The black alloy wheels look like police special. The vault is completely stripped out, they even removed the under bed storage compartment and all the power outlets. This one has FSD and it goes for same price as a Dual-Motor CT, ouch!

Keep in mind what others have experienced with delivery dates.
Think there is a chance you may get option to upgrade to AWD, with potential of order canceled.
Any chance of a free upgrade to an inventory AWD? Don’t know how Tesla usually operates in these circumstances.

Not sure if removing a vehicle on a website is the same as “discontinuing”….
It is when your corporate idea of a sales team is some people sitting in a store at a shopping mall who can help you navigate the website.

Ouch indeed. I hadn’t seen those new wheels uncovered yet. Not bad, but certainly not great.

With this trim, I’m betting they just had to put something out there for the people waiting for the RWD and didn’t want to send another email saying it’s not coming (like the range extender and autopilot). This trim killed all hopes of a $60K CT and probably pushed more AWD sales during its short time with us than it sold itself.

Yeah. I suggested to Tesla to use unsold RWD CTs as Tesla mobile service vehicles and they are actually thinking along the same line

It would make a great mobile tech/mobile service vehicle (I assume that’s what you were shooting for). Holds lots of tools. I had one come out years ago in a Model S. He had a floor jack in the frunk. Can’t imagine that’s ideal. One bump and the hood will turn into a mountain lol

funny you mention that, but the CT was always meant to be a evolutionary step change for police vehicles. It hasn't taken off yet, but it will.
