Question for the business owners out there who have purchased a Foundation Series CT with Free Lifetime Supercharging.

Have a good friend who has a crawlspace business (crawling around and fixing drain lines, drafts, joists, etc).

He has decided to go electric and I am trying to talk him out of a F150 Lightning. He is tempted by the discounted Foundation AWDs that have Free Supercharging but asked me a question I did not know the answer to. Can you buy a Foundation CT through your business and NOT get booted off of Lifetime Free Supercharging?

Obviously if you use a ride share, delivery, etc you will get the boot. If a person or business uses "excessive" supercharging Tesla will boot them. He drives about 100 miles a day, and would supercharge about half the time, so far from excessive use, but the value add of the supercharging is tempting compared to the F150.
But he is concerned about the "business" verbage.

Sooooooooo have any of you Business owners purchased a Foundation with Free SC under your business name, registered and titled it under your business (in order to get the Commercial Clean tax credit) AND had any issues with the Free Lifetime Supercharging?

I don’t have personal experience as a business owner with a Foundation Series Cybertruck, but I can clarify the situation based on what’s out there. Tesla’s terms for the free lifetime Supercharging offer on inventory Foundation Series Cybertrucks (ordered on or after December 27, 2024) explicitly state that “business orders” are excluded from the promotion. The offer is tied to individual Tesla accounts, non-transferable, and aimed at personal use, with exclusions for commercial purposes like taxis, rideshares, or delivery services. They also reserve the right to revoke it for “excessive charging,” though there’s no clear definition of what that means—your friend’s 100 miles a day, with half at Superchargers, seems reasonable and unlikely to trigger that clause.

The catch here is the “business orders” phrasing. If your friend buys the Cybertruck through his crawlspace business, titles and registers it under the business name to claim something like the Commercial Clean Vehicle Tax Credit, it would likely be considered a business order. Tesla’s fine print doesn’t seem to distinguish between types of businesses—whether it’s a rideshare or a crawlspace repair company—so there’s a risk they’d disqualify the free Supercharging.

Given the tax credit’s value versus the estimated savings from free Supercharging (maybe $500-$2,000/year depending on usage), it might make sense to prioritize the credit if he’s set on the business purchase. He could buy it personally to secure the Supercharging, but then he’d likely miss the commercial credit.

I’d suggest he contact Tesla directly to clarify if a non-commercial-use business purchase could still qualify—sometimes they’re flexible case-by-case. Worst case, he could buy personally, use it for work, and write off expenses without titling it to the business. What’s his main priority—upfront savings or long-term charging costs? That might tip the scale.

There may be a different between "business orders" and purchases for use in a business given Tesla does have fleet sales.

There is a case be be make for eligibility since the configuator does not remove free supercharging when the commerial credit is selected.

Um, he's probably going to register it as a business/commercial vehicle on purchase so that seems pretty obvious that the vehicle is ineligible for the consumer promotion of lifetime supercharging. What am I missing?

Tesla is protecting against subsidizing high mileage transport based businesses like ride share or rentals.
That doesn't necessarily exclude things like sole proprietors/ self employed individuals whose Supercharging aligns more with a typical commuter.

I'd be looking at an FS AWD for towing a travel trailer. That would use way more charging than normal.

Yea my thought is it may be the fleet sales that are "business orders" which is why they also put in the part about delivery or ride-share, which would not be fleet but would disqualify a business from getting free supercharging, just like the "excessive" use.

Had NOT noticed the configuration with the commercial clean on it, that would give him some ground to stand on to keep the free supercharging as you can't get the commercial clean without a business purchase.

Was hoping someone here on the forums had already purchased through their LLC or business to get the tax credit and also landed the free supercharging on a FS could share the experience.

Free Supercharging didn't happen until Feb 28th 2025, so no one would have filed their taxes for it yet.

Correct, they would not have filed taxes, but they would have the free supercharging on the vehicle if they bought it in the last 1.5 months with their business.

Ah, gotcha. I misinterpreted tenses.
I'm guessing as soon as someone loses Free Supercharging, we'll hear about it. ?

You could buy it personally and then have the business rent it from you... This would probably eliminate your 179 deduction though...

Yea my guess is there have not been problems, with the way Tesla has worded it I think they would have a dogfight on their hands if they tried to pull supercharging from these old FS vehicles. At at the perceived value some people put on the supercharging some people would involve the legal system so doubt it will happen.
Was just hoping to hear from someone who had purchased a FS with supercharging through a business to help put his mind at ease and push him away from the F150 Lightning

One would think with the large number of Foundations they have sold with free supercharging someone would have run into the problem by now.
