Center Camera Defrost

So Tesla feels the problem with the defrosting of the center camera is that the windshield isn't properly sealed and is replacing the windshield under warranty. I'll know more when I pick it up. It won't be ready until end of day tomorrow. Perhaps they are suggesting isn't properly sealed around the camera area.

I was surprised by the windshield replacement. I'm guessing the windshield was malformed around the camera housing causing it to not have a good seal against the glass. So when defrosting the camera, any air was pushed outside the housing and never defrosting a thing. They didn't change anything in the housing itself.

I also declined the cantrail replacement, but they did it anyway. Thankfully, they are aligned perfectly like the originals.

Seems simpler to just put some kind of seal on the housing than replace the whole glass but again, I know nothing about this.

a full 2 days. Dropped it off Thursday am first thing, picked it up after hours Friday PM. Luckily, they had a loaner available.

Not sure how the forward camera gets defogged. There's a thin wire on the windshield crisscrossing the area, but IDK if that's a defrost heater wire (might be an antenna?). It cannot function if damaged or otherwise disconnected, and replacing the windshield would correct either failure.

Separately, there is a fan in the camera housing. Presumably it is for cooling, but you'd think it would provide airflow during windshield defrost.

Per the schematic, there is a windshield heater:

but IDK if that's a "heater of the camera in the windshield" or a "heater of the windshield for the camera"

Yes it is in between the defrost button and mirror defrost button on the AC control screen

I’m pretty sure there isn’t a separate defrost button for the camera - either in the car or in the app.

I just went in the app to schedule an appointment and they quoted me a $2300,was it the same for u before they warranty it?
