Anyone have thoughts of wrapping their fender flares a different color? Carbon fiber fender flares might look good against stainless steel body 🤔

Body being wrapped in 3M Pine Green Metallic vinyl.

Not going to wrap my Cybertruck but green does look pretty good. A different shade of green could make for a cool halo warthog look. Get a fake .50 cal turret and master chief costume and you will have a fantastic Halloween setup

Lighter colour wrap has better range.

Matte black is the worst.

I'd take a light blue or light green matt satin, or a pearl white metallic.

But I'd wait a few months and then try it.

Can you elaborate?

what's the physics here? haha just AC savings?
Yep pretty much. Both in summer from more solar heat gain on the black surface and in winter from more heat radiation in comparison to SS or White.

This also applies to amount of time it is parked in the sun or out in the cold, in that over time the whole vehicle gets heat soaked faster, or cools down faster, meaning more energy is required to bring it back within operating range.

This can be more load than using the A/C for travelling itself, in that airflow will convect heat from the vehicle exterior whilst driving at a decent rate, which in return will reduce the temperature delta and heat ingress to the cabin. A black interior doesn't help nor does large glass areas that aren't shaded.

At moderate temperature or seasons, or climates where there is minimal A/C load the effect will be largely inconsequential and could be offset with some hypermiling or a lower cruise speed.

Obviously Matt black is also the least visible as well, so there is a safety aspect as well.

Another factor here is that the 1kW (!) windscreen wiper motor will also reduce range by about 2-3miles when it rains. That's on top of the range loss from lifting water off the road to create water spray by the tyres which can be up to 10% as well.

Overall the extreme efficiencies of a EV also make it more sensitive to environmental factors, to the point little things start to become meaningful. Same for towing a "parachute" box trailer or RV.

excellent choice of color and carbon fiber pattern.

Are you sure stainless steel isn't the fastest color?

Could well be, seeing that it will weigh the least amount? But the difference is likely less than you missing lunch or not before you race. ;)

Technically, mirrored finish stainless would also be best for heat reflection, but that will require too much cleaning, and would be even more of a distraction in traffic. Maybe good camo in the forrest though.
