I see what you did there! But, that's a fact. The underlying fabric on tambour cover over the cup holder in my Corvette console has begun to separate from the tambour slats and I expect the thing to fall apart, sooner rather than later. Well, maybe 17 years is the expected lifespan of a tambour door in a car console...
