I have a trip coming up where we will be camping with an RV for about 10 days in late July. We will be boondocking with a generator. There aren't any superchargers near by not that I want to spend part of my day plugged in to a SC. Has anyone used the neutral bonding plugs from Amazon? They are mentioned on some of the YT videos as being necessary to use a generator to charge. Plan to use the 30A plug on the generator to put a few electrons in the battery each day when we don't need the RV running. This will be a once a year event so its not like this will happen frequently.

TIA!

Your generator may already have neutral and ground bonded. Do you have a meter to check with?
Otherwise, yeah they will need connected somewhere.
Note that a travel trailer 30A plug is 120V and the generator is 240V. You can get both types of adapter for the Mobile Connector.

30A output on the generator likely has NG bond. Check the scematics of your generator or you can post it here.

Also having gone camping with the CT I would suggest you TEST the generator setup at home BEFORE you go out beyond the reach of a supercharger, better to figure out the surprise win in your driveway than 70 miles out in the back country.

I’ve used a generator on mine before. Get a surge protector like you would use on an RV just to be safe. It won’t let power through at all if it’s reversed or not a good flow.

I have a 9kw Firman. charges 240. takes about 4 hrs from 30% to 80%. We start dinner, power the rv, have a few then shut down. Truck fully charged. I do this two days before I go through 5 gallons of fuel.

30% to 80% would be 61.5 kWh. If this took 4 hours, you're adding ~15 kW every hour. Is that right?

At 240V, wouldn't that be roughly 62.5A? Hardly possible with said generator...

I have used this generator (needed the amazon bonding plug) and it charges @ 7KWH with the mobile connector charger on the 240v port.

Sure they work, but you can make a bonding plug from an old three prong extension cord plug. Cut off the plug a couple of inches back, strip the insulation from the wires, then connect the white (neutral) wire to the green (ground) wire and cover the black (hot) wire. You then plug it into one of the 120Vac outlets on the generator.
