CT Owners Unable To Change Email Address

From what I can find online, Tesla has blocked people with CT reservations from changing their email addresses. I've had my CT for just under two months, so I'm not sure if it should have been released or not. Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a way to change their email address?

I'll only have access to this email address for another thirty days, and then I don't know what will happen to my account if I get logged out or need a password reset.

I had my reservation on my non-primary email. While I was waiting (since Nov 2019) i could not find a way to change it. And was scared to lose my spot.

When I got my CT, they (delivery center) asked me to hold off on changing the email since it could lead to headaches for PowerShare etc

Once I was done getting those emails, they recommended me to send a request to
[email protected]

I have not done it yet, so can’t tell you what’s after this.

IMO, it should be as easy as changing it in your Account Profile when you log into your Tesla account. After all you are not trying to change your Social Security number.

IMO, call them or if there is a showroom/delivery center close by, just walk in and ask. In my experience they have been really nice.

I didn't go deep enough into their phone system yesterday, but I was finally able to contact customer support this morning.

They will send you a confirmation code in the app, then an email requesting a copy of your license, and request the current and new email addresses. Apparently, after that, they send the information to the back office, where it takes 3-5 days to update.

?? that this works! I can't believe we have to jump through so many hoops to change an email address.

This was due to several reasons, the main one was to prevent people from reselling the CyberTruck reservations. Now that they've removed the no resale clause I suspect it should start getting easier sooner.

W.A.G. I bet if you was too loose said email access, this is where that long random characters backup code is used to recover the account or what ever. Always safer to have Tesla help directly tho.

I had to call Tesla and email copies of my driver's license with the old and new email addresses. They took care of it and about a day later, my app was logged out requiring the new address.

What about the web site, Profile Settings, email address, edit?
As of now, you have to call customer service, who will verify your account and send you an email to which you must reply with a copy of your license and your new email address.

I had a Tesla account with my solar and history, and bought the CT with a new email address.
Your right in that you can't change it due to them preventing it, sure they will cancel/reinstate that ability again soon.

BUT, in the meantime you could probably do an account merge if you know the new address. That is what I did, wrote them the email for the ownership transfer of the car, and they suggested an account merge. They just ask which account you want to keep and which one to delete. So if you know your new email already, and can provide the ownership proof the CT on the other account, you can merge it into a new one. It would bring all vehicles over to new account if have more than CT also.

This is what they had sent me:
