What a PITA. Such a stupid design.

Definitely not something I thought I had to do at delivery - but in retrospect, I feel like I should have known. This video is definitely how it is in real life taking these off and putting them on. I guess we would all get better if we did it a lot of times, but the first time is not obvious.

Oh geez, that video was embarrassing and showed how in real life, things aren't as easy as a Tesla video install video.

However, to give Tesla some credit, in the Tesla video, you are supposed to snap the exterior wheel cover in a certain order, essentially pop one side in and the opposite side in and so on. This guy did not follow the procedure and went around in a circle popping it in, which made the install look a bit clumsy.

Seems they will have to redo them again before we get them, or give up. That or they'll make a lot of $$$ on the $75 replacements in the store ;-).

Honestly, I can see them giving up on current owners. At some point logistically, how are they going to mail out or install 20,000+ wheel covers x4 to everyone.
They can do it. They're selling these for $75 a pop so I'm sure they figured out how to do it... it's just a matter of when they want to do it.

It was interesting that both the service technicians and I thought that the covers appeared to stick out further from the wheels than you would expect them to. All four look like this. It does seem like there is a possibility that too much airflow might get between the covers and have the ability (in some circumstances) to pull them off. I guess it makes sense this would be in the redesign since the original covers wear too close, and resulting in rubbing the tires.

We agreed I would drive around and see if it happens again.

I made it home and they are still on so I'll update if they come off again.
I can confirm this. I re-seated my covers during pickup. It was more of a pain than I thought it'd be, but I was pretty confident that these wouldn't fly off if seated correctly. 400 miles in, and they're still fine for now.

However, I did catch a glimpse of the clips when I was inspecting it the other day and thought they were falling off - I think the design just has those extended parts a bit further from the tires now.

When you guys pop the covers on, make sure you pop the center part in as well.

Hi! Canada released the cybertruck much later than America, therefore I assumed the hubcap issue was resolved. However, my hubcaps have fallen off 4 times. Tesla Vancouver refuses to cover the cost. My hubcap fell off again yesterday and I don’t want to pay $400 for another hubcap. Anyone else in Canada have this issue?
