Nice option on the mattresses.
Interested how the BougeRV works out, they are a little expensive at around $1,000
Also keep in mind you have to vent the hot side out somehow which I think will be tricky unless you are OK leaving the vault partially open which creates other challenges. The Tesla Cybertruck heat pump and overall HVAC will be WAY more efficient and use less power than the BougeRV just a heads up.

I am still looking at options to open the window from the cabin to the vault, not only for HVAC but as a way for access. If something happens I want to be able to get from my vault bed to the cabin and drive away.

Keep us updated!

I have a design for the heat pump that should work. I've ordered the material to make a hinged 3/8" thick Lexan panel that will fit into the tonneau cover tracks on each side of the vault at the gate. The panel is 12" wide, and made to support the 23 lb weight of the BougeRV heat pump. Two 4-1/8" holes are bored into one of the panels. One hole will allow for vault air to be sucked out of the vault, cooled or heated, and then pumped back into the vault through the 2nd hole and a 4" duct to the head of the vault. The duct will be hung on supports inserted into the L-track.

I chose clear Lexan to allow natural light to enter the vault since the rear back lite of the CT will be blocked by the tonneau being partially closed. The temperature of the vault air is measured at the intake to the heat pump and thermostatically controlled. to the set point.

The BougeRV heat pump will typically draw 200W in ECO mode depending on the load. At a constant draw of 200W for 8 hours it will consume 1.6 kWh which is a bit more than 1% of battery capacity. At the peak output of 2900 BTU (Max mode) and drawing 350W, it will consume just over 2% of charge. Time will tell if it can handle the heat loss/gain in very cold/hot conditions.

The BougeRV heat pump is normally $900. I got mine on sale for $660 directly from the company. The materials to adapt it to the CT vault (Lexan panels, piano hinge, Loctite Super Glue, and 4-1/8" hole saw) came to another $180.

Wow, very ingenious design. I am looking forward to how it turns out. Btw, you should change your avatar to you in the truck now. (I know, coming from the guy with no avatar, lol)

Love to see pics of your set up once it is installed!

I am going to test in cabin solutions, so I can take advantage climate controls, music, TV/movies, charging ports, etc.

BTW I am a side sleeper, legs not fully extended while sleeping. I am 6'1 and 175 lbs. I found something that lays on the floor in the rear that fits almost perfect, but you are a lot lower and not as much "elbow room". I am going to test out a solution that allows for a "platform" type system that lays on top of the rear seats and covers the open space below.

I am going to test it tonight to see if it fits. This is a photo of my in the backseat of my 2019 Ram Rebel for reference.

I did a basic sizing test. I am 6’1 and a side sleeper. I was able to put the sleeping/doggy platform in place. I still have under seat storage and I have access to the backseat controls due to the cut out. I could camp back here easily with this set up. I use a pillow, thermarest pad for more cushion and a blanket. “Bob’s your Uncle” as they say in England.

It can be stored under the seat or in the frunk (see pics below). It does not fit into the smugglers bay, but obviously there is plenty of space in the truck bed.

So when I take my dirt bike on a multi-day ride/camping trip, this will allow me to camp in any weather condition.

Thank you for the pics! That platform bed looks great as a base for my dog's bed, too. (With harness, attached to something solid behind the seats, of course).

The straps that go around the seat don’t work like a normal car seat, so it goes around the seat versus hanging off the headrest. So if you want to use it for your dog, it will be in the way when you drive. You will need to come up with another solution.

Ah, yeah, I see what you mean. I'll play with some ideas. Maybe some legs. We'll see.

Unless one really needs the storage space, sleeping on the floor would allow you to tuck your legs under the front seats for more room.

To heat or cool the vault I'm devising a solution using a BougeRV 2900 BTU heat pump
Is it actually a heat pump or just an air conditioner? They list it as an air conditioner. Sure you can still get heat by changing the output tubes but it may not work as well in the cold.

You're right, it isn't designed as a heat source. There's no thermostatic control on the hot air side. It can be used to as a heat source by reversing the unit and setting the thermostat to 61 deg. But when the outside air temp drops to 60 deg, the unit shuts off.

I found a 3" foldable mattress that fits on the floor, but you don't have a lot of elbow room and you are pretty low in the truck. Also, putting your feet/legs under the seat would not work unless you are a small person overall. Like really small.
