That's alot of shims to hold the parts in place.

...and no midgate.

And no wing storage.

Not sure why think no midgate? looks like a large hinge area at bottom of divider and difficult to see what that part is. Think one of the prototypes at Gigatexas event did have a midgate. Multiple prototypes.

Does this mean no mid-gate? It looks pretty sealed up.
I hope there's at least a no mid-gate option. That feature is not for me. IMO, the utility doesn't outweigh the extra cost, complexity, leak risk, and lower frame rigidity. But that's only my opinion.

I believe that’s the actual mounting point for the tail gate. Kinda think that’s even a hinge.

I’m team mid gate but there was nothing confirming a mid gate at cyber rodeo.

I do still have hope here.

That's fair I wasn't even considering the trade-offs! I just wanted to sleep w/ HVAC and a pop up tent over the bed :D

I'm also pro-midgate. I want to take this sucker camping and be able to watch Netflix while laying in my inflatable mattress and looking up at the stars. I really hope there is a midgate option... 🤞

I do not see the back end where the bed will be at all. Just the cab. Not even a front end. So how do we know about the wings from this photo? Is it possible that the front end and back end are separate pieces? I 'am' very interested in the rear casting shown here. I am not sure about the midgate as I can see a solid section there but am not sure if it means what it suggests given all of the other things going on in this photo. I am not sure what those jigs are holding the casting but I do not believe that they are part of the cybertruck.

I'll call this one a slam dunk - great job with the predictions everyone!!

Is that 2 mirrored castings in the rear?

Interesting that there is casting structure going all the way up the sail wings.

Show us more!!

An option would be good, but I doubt it's feasible: structurally, the design needs to be fundamentally different if a midgate is present, in order to preserve rigidity.
I would prefer having a midgate and the picture rather worried me at first, but I agree we cannot decide present/absent from that pic alone.

Tesla already mixed metals in Model 3 and it looks like a mix here as well. One needs to "bond" the front and rear castings with something very tough; the shell reinforces the resulting 3-part body, but is not the main structural component.
