The R1S looks like it has a much larger, more useful interior as well.

Downside to the R1S is it’s likely similar efficiency and slow charging the R1T has.
I can't help but think that 3rd party battery upgrades will be a thing in 5 years. I guess it depends on the format, b
I'm not so sure.....it is April in 3 days.....I say again, still no gigapress for CT.....6 months to get it, set-up, tested and certified.....then prototype and beta testing.....I just dont see that happening in jul/aug.......I'm afraid, we are looking at another delay that well may push things out past oct 22.....it might just push me out of a CT also....

edit: the Silverado really looks like something I would like.....but it has a long time to go as well
Where did the 6 month figure come from? Sure the gigapress is heavy but is it really complicated? What do you have, feed unit, a furnace, a press, a hydraulic pump skid, a cooling mechanism, and finished part handler? The foundation, power, and other utilities are probably just sitting there ready to connect. I bet Tesla can set up a 6 ton unit in a month with their experience, so call the 8 ton unit 2 months. (assuming that it was tested in Italy).

I dont think anybody knows, except for Elon and his purchasing department......it will be interested to see how they can string together parts when they are not sure of everything yet.....wipers, lights, mirrors, mid-gate and interior

Hmmmmm......what happened to the CT 8Ton......maybe it is on the "slow boat from Italy"......;)
Other companies are jumping on the gigapress bandwagon. It could be for Volvo/Polestar?

just for reference......there are 3 giga presses for the Y now.....still working on them...ok......but how long did it take to get the first one up and running to produce parts that were acceptable.......I am sorry, I just cant see how jul/aug will happen if they are here by late April / May......even that is a stretch.....but I hope you are right and I am wrong
For some reason I thought there were 4 6k Ton Gigapresses. But it doesn’t really matter.

They will very likely use a 6k Ton Gigapress for the front end of the Cybertruck so if there are 3, there is a good chance that 3rd press is for the Cybertruck.

Only the rear of the CT requires the 8k Ton press.

not sure....I thought there was only 3 6Ton there now....if there is a 4th, you may be correct....I was under the impression the CT needed the 8Ton press......now I have a different perspective if there is a 4th

Edited the above, but crossed.

The rear end of the Cybertruck requires the 8k Ton press.

The front end can be done with a 6k Ton press.

how long did it take from receipt to producing good parts for the Y........
That's not really a measure. The first one ever took 6 months doesn't mean the nth one will take just as long. In fact, it's unlikely to take just as long, the first one is always slower.

true, but it is a good measure for a starting point......it is a fact......so now we can all start guessing how long it will take for the 8Ton to arrive and start producing certified parts for use in production models

What the exact cutoff is is debatable. I think we all agree that seeing the 8k Ton press sooner is better.

I’m not falling in love with a specific delivery date. It’s all probabilities and guesswork until production starts.

All that said… my birthday is end of May. They’d better have mine ready by then. ?

My feeling on production start timing:

Sometime in 2023 — 95% chance.
First Half 2023 — 70% chance.
First Quarter 2023 — 40% chance.

my birthday is 17 May........don't ask me how many I can't remember.......they says one gets older, their memory is the second thing to go.....I can't remember the first ......?
