Has anybody taken their Cybertruck on the auto train that runs between FL and VA? I have a round trip reservation next month to visit my peeps in NJ. I'm a bit nervous about handing it over to those unfamiliar with its operation. It's a much better alternative to driving I-95, but not sure if a better alternative to the anxiety of leaving a $100k truck with others. Should I chance it or just be a man and drive I-95 ?

If you’re concerned with extra miles, take the train. I’d just drive it myself tho, get to sit in them cumfy ball crushing seats ?, listen to the superb audio, and do what you bought it for, drive it. 95 isn’t too bad at dark time.

If I’m not mistaken the Cybertruck is too wide for the auto train. I’ve taken my Porsche Cayenne GTS and that just made the required width.

Just engage your FSD, a bargain at $14k, and enjoy being chauffeured ?

Mod the axles with railroad car wheels and roll down the tracks like a BOSS.

Extra bonus if you wire in a train horn and wear an engineer's cap.

Thanks for your recommendations.
I forgot to mention the icing on the cake. C.T. exceeds auto train length guidelines by 8 inches. Width is ok. I was charged extra $200 round trip for a second car space.

Set valet mode at 25 mph. I've taken my Corvette on it. U could raise it if u are worried. I've driven that over 100 times. At 80 the train is the way to go. They might want you to put it in

I've been doing the annual I-95 snowbird commute since 2010. It's been gradually wearing me down. I love driving CT but figured the train would take the sting out of that long drive. I still have to drive the last 400 mi to NJ, but easier than the whole 1,100.
Amtrak supposedly takes a preloading video to document existing condition. If true, that makes me feel better.

I had good luck with the Auto train and my Silverado (same trek from NJ to FL and back.). You pay for oversize vehicle. I definitely arrived much more fresh then when driving. Obviously you pay a premium for it. So I guess it depends on whether the money is worth your comfort. As far as damage, I would think there is less chance of them hitting something loading into train then 1100 miles driving on what can be a crazy highway I 95

I have taken autotrain with Tesla S, Tesla X, and Tesla S Plaid for the last 11 years at least 12 different times. No issues.

Hi, I checked out the Amtrak site for the Autotrain and it states maximum ;

Extended vehicles: 216 in (18 ft) long, 85 in high, 84 in wide (including mirrors), and 4+ in ground clearance.

The Cybertruck is 223.7 in = ~18ft 8" long, 80 in wide = 6ft 7 in and 69.13 in high = 5ft 8". So, even without a tow hitch attached, it's too long. I don't know what would happen if someone showed up at Lorton or Sanford anyway. I've done the Autotrain with a Model X many times with no problem, but the X is much smaller in every dimension, only 198 in = 16ft 6 in long.

I got on the Amtrak chat thing about the Autotrain and they told me that because of the extra 8 inches in length of the Cybertruck you would need to buy two standard slots. I asked if you could pair with someone with a smaller car to just buy two slots for the two. No that won't work, they said. I doubt if they would turn you away if you just showed up in a Cybertruck, but who wants to find out?

I booked CT on AT this month
while CT was in the shop. They charged $40 extra for oversized vehicle. Was not finished when my trip came up. Had to take MX instead. Got a $40 refund.
