Well, I received these today and installed them and I have thoughts.

1. Overall, I’m not a fan.

2. Someone asked earlier if they were “useful” I never saw an answer. My answer is: No.

Unless the thing that is going to cause you or your Aunt Edna to roll their ankle happens to fit directly in the outline of the logo you’re not going to see it; because this isn’t going to illuminate it.
It’s clearly highly engineered and throws light like a laser. And therein lies the rub for a functional puddle light. It’s supposed to light up the area around your feet for safety.
This is only for flexing. That’s fine, but just know posing is the only thing you can do with these. Sorry.

3. They are small. As I was posting this I noticed that somebody else had the same idea to throw down some measurements so you guys would know. Mine is also in entry
mode but I got roughly 13.5 inches which seems to be slightly smaller.
Speaking of which, if you’re already catching flack about the size of your manhood because you are driving around in this thing and you’re sensitive to that these are not gonna help the issue you will get teased 100% on your small lights. Get your comebacks ready!
I think we’ve got two or three threads going with this subject in it and I don’t know where every comment is, but someone mentioned that putting them in is harder than you would expect. I agree with that. They sit at a weird angle and getting the new ones in is a little bit of a challenge.
I’ve done this on many Teslas over the years mine, my wife’s, my dad’s, my daughter’s and this is generally a trivial matter -less than a minute per light. I think my longest one on this took about 10 minutes or more and ultimately you’re gonna have to manhandle it into position.

4. They don’t sit right! If you have any degree of OCD or are a perfectionist, you are not going to like this. They hurt my brain Simply put they don’t sit straight they’re askew, cattywompus, crooked- pick your poison.
I noticed it in all the photos that have been pointed but I was hoping that like I’ve seen with some other puddle lights folks had them on the wrong side and this would be OK. It’s not there’s only one way to install them and the end result is as seen in my photos. They should be 90° when the door is fully opened, IMO, and they’re not even close.
The back is better than the front but still not perfectly straight. You could probably make some minor adjustments by not seating them properly but then I’m not sure that the door would close without smacking them.

Bottom line I think Tesla has left a lot of room for third parties to create something compelling for a lot less ?!

If I had a time machine I would skip these altogether. As is, I’m going to only keep the ones in the back in place and install graffiti ones in the front when they arrive.

*Another thing a lot of people are saying that they didn’t realize that the cybertruck had puddle lights and now having installed these I understand why, they are ridiculously dim. Whether you put these on or not it’s probably worth it to get a third-party light from one of the many companies that have them available

I presume the led bulb is built into the fixture and can’t be changed to a brighter one.
Yeah, it’s not a bulb, the whole thing is kind of more of a cartridge. This is the same on all Tesla’s that I’m familiar with.

Tesla takes returns. Free return shipping , too.

All done online from the order history page.

No need to keep something you’re not happy with. I bought the rear underseat storage and hated it. They took it back, no problem. Again, free return shipping.

Oh, I know they take return returns. I’m OK with them on the back door as I said.

I’m going to keep them for that plus spares so I’m good. If somebody had posted a review as thorough as mine I would’ve probably skipped them. Especially, given how I am anal about puddle lights being installed properly and the logo being positioned right when the door is fully opened.

Abstract Ocean always does a very good job with that. And for all of my other cars they have been my go to for this. I’m looking forward to what they come up with when they get everything sorted out.

I’m thankful for your initial post. But I just noticed how the official image in your post clearly shows the door only partially opened and if they had of shown it swung all the way open, I would’ve known that I wasn’t going to be satisfied with the angle of projection. I made an assumption that wasn’t warranted.

I agree about AO. We’ve got their interior and Tesla logo projection lights in our 2020 MYLR and they‘re still going strong.

AO sent me a pair of the Cybertruck script lights to try a while back, but they wouldn’t work. Hopefully they can reverse-engineer these, haha!!

so since I’m heading out on the road and my mother-in-law is coming along she brought our 2020 MY that she’s driving back to my house today and since it’s here, I can show you what I believe puddle lights should look like. Compared to the Cybertruck ones these are humongous and properly oriented when the door is opened!

These are from Abstract Ocean. So I know they will do it right once they get whatever compatibility issues they’re having worked out.

I probably will send my two sets back and wait for AO´s script ones. Good that some posted results on the Tesla shop ones. They don’t do much for me.

Flex for sure, I like them, just pricy. I have my truck set to park high at all my normal spots I go, that does make them project bigger. And I think they are plenty bright when dark.

Ordered! I rarely have passengers in the back so I'll be content with the front doors.

Love that people post this stuff here. It would have taken me forever to discover this.

You are apparently the company with the "other" puddle lights that don't work. I'm sure it is related to the 48v system of the CyberTruck. When you figure it out, I definitley prefer the subtle "CyberTruck Silhouette", however, I could be persuaded with a cool "CyberTruck" design that matches the welded door sill emblem. Just say'n??

Well, we're the company that have sold over half a million lights for Tesla's since 2013 ?, but that aside, it's not directly to do with the 48v system, other than that appears to make the soft fuses a lot more sensitive. The factory bulbs in CT are the same as in Highland, and of course, knowing that, we developed the lights using Highland as the test bed, where they work fine (not much of a market for CT lights on a Model 3 though!). In the CT, the bulbs are just at the end of a dumb 16v cable pair, there's no control wire or any other smarts involved, so it must be a level of sensitivity/detection at the local 48>16v stepdown. We'll get this figured out, and won't have designs that compete with Tesla, but the ones we will have will come in various colors and hopefully be a bit more practical in terms of actually lighting the ground.

If you really want to impress me, make the colors changeable with the interior ambiant light setting. A red "CyberTruck" on the ground, or blue, or purple, etc., based on what my interior lighting is set at would be really cool!! Thank you for explaining the issue. Look forward to seeing what you come up with. Mine are arriving Friday and I'm gong to wait on the rear doors until I see what you bring.

Also, I didn't mean to trivialize your product. My apologies if I offended. Had no idea you've been doing Tesla since the Model S came out. Respect!
