Did any of you struggle on the back doors, did you have to cut a bigger hole?
I just ordered one pair to test and my rear doors seemed to have a smaller hole.

So, yes... a bit of a struggle, but they did pop in without needing to modify anything. THIS maybe why they only recommend the front. I honestly thought I was losing my mind with the rears bc I got the fronts in a lot easier and got cocky.

Good question.

I actually had to modify the front holes a little bit, and had a much easier time with the rears.

I used a little vaseline on the edges of the rectangle hole in the door.

The Tesla puddle lights are quite chunky, and the connector is sort of dog-legged on top, so they’re tricky to get in, and if it’s the first time, the original lights are very tough to get out. The spudger does help and it’s what we always use, but it can still slip. The temptation to use a big flat blade screwdriver will be strong, but it’ll dig a hole in the trim in no time.

The Tesla puddle lights are well made, I’ll give them that.

Given the front and rear doors use the same stock part, it's not surprising the new ones work in both locations. Only possible issue could be due to interior door clearance if the new modules are larger.

They are a little tight fit but they will go in without modifications. Just make sure you are putting in the correct lamps for the Right (passenger) and Left (driver) sides.

I didn't realize they were side specific, but they are. They have the markings on the light housing.

Curious if, like on other cars I'vd installed aftermarket projection puddle lights, if this a brightness (voltage drop) when you open multiple doors. I see this in my S and 3 when I open the front and back doors.
If so, may be the reason it's "only supported in the front"

So essentially either a set in the front or rear not both. Assuming they are on the same circuit.

Puddle lamps are individually powered by their local door module, shouldn't be any cross interaction.

Wow, that's crazy. I imagine

I had all 4 open simultaneously, didn't observe any difference in brightness. Hope this helps.

Appears true for CT since each door, or at least each side, has a 48v step-down, but, not true for any other Tesla, each of the two doors on each side has a shared circuit, and if both doors are opened at the same time, both puddle lights will dim slightly, more so in the older 12V models.
