No fingerprints tho 🤷‍♂️
Cybertruck is stainless steel. It is going to show fingerprints (unless wrapped). People pointed that out online that night before the reveal was even over and have so incessantly on this forum for 4 years.

For the first two years after deliver starts, you are going to get fingerprints all over your truck as people --including me -- will come up and touch CT in amazement. Call it the price of immortality.

Windex, a cloth, prints gone. Move on.

Check out this prototype spotted just today by @RostGuido in Palo Alto. Looks amazing in the sun and best build quality I've seen yet! All the panels and parts are lined up great.

it is so gloriously ugly, I can't wait for mine. Note i have owned an Aztek and somehow managed to get the plate "FUGLY" past local DMV for that :D

VW Group sets the bar for exterior panel alignment, fit and finish. I think they are the best in the automotive industry right now. Automotive shoppers will have tough time finding a misaligned body panel on a Porsche or Audi.
Keeping up appearances

Yes, this one looks nice from the outside, let's see the inside and how "intelligent" it will be!!

We’re all talking about adjustment of panel gaps proper like that was the main or more difficult issue musk was focused on.

Musk likely was focused as much or more on the more difficult issues of both waviness in the attached panels (and how they can look like Funhouse mirrors if not perfectly flat/attached) and then the dimensions of the panel cuts themselves (which if off, isn’t remedied by simple panel adjustment).

That makes me want to touch your CT even more.

Never mind with CSI, I burned off my fingerprints for a previous government job traveling the world to interesting places and meeting interesting people. /s

Guys,

That's a sample size of one. It's not statistically significant.

There are examples of Models 3 and Y with good build quality that came in the middle of some of Tesla's worst quarters of unreliable builds. For that matter, some Models 3 and Y *still* show up with awful panel alignment and other problems, even after years of Tesla having time to tune up the production line.

Not to mention that we have no idea if this one was hand-tuned or adjusted.

I'd wait before drawing any conclusions about Cybertruck build quality. Let's try to be objective here.

BTW, my own personal opinion is the Ford F-150 Lightning and other coming electric pickups will outsell the Cybertruck, possibly significantly.

Do the other electric trucks have over a million pre-orders? How will they outsell the Cybertruck when they don't even want to sell EV's in the first place? They make all of their money off ICE vehicles. They won't be able to make a profit off their EV trucks for years, therefore no incentive to even try to outsell the Cybertruck. They're basically throwing out a bunch of compliance crap.

No, but neither does Cybertruck.

The "1M pre-orders" thing is a zombie misconception. They have fully-refundable *reservations* which aren't "pre-orders". Also, people are mostly taking Musk's word for it that even the reservations (again, not pre-orders) are that many. Also, Ford had to *close* their reservations after 200,000 because unlike Tesla, they don't comically over-promise production capability.

Also, there are already 1,000s of Lightnings on the road. There are basically no Cybertrucks, and won't be any appreciable number until late 2024 at the earliest.

As battery costs continue to plummet, EV trucks will become profitable.

Also, who says Cybertruck will be profitable? Based on what data?

And it's hard to argue Ford is building $B EV factories for Lightning if they "don't want to sell them"...that's just comically untrue.

It's really hard to remove or hide scratches in stainless steel panels. More importantly, they're VERY difficult to repair when dented or bent. This is among the worst materials one could choose for a sturdy work or cargo vehicle likely to get dinged constantly.

How does Ford have 200,000 reservations when my local Ford dealer has Lightnings in stock today? The Cybertruck is sold out for years.
Ford does not make money on EV's. The only reason there are Lightnings on the road today and not Cybertrucks, is because Ford took an existing truck that they were already building and placed it on an electric platform.

Thank you captain obvious, if SS( for you we will call it SPACE STEEL LOL) is damaged enough to warrant repair that it may be labor intensive to replace. It’s about the threshold for need of repair.

But, have you ever had to get factory OEM paint to a quarter panel? Don’t forget you have to replace the panel too!

And, for the road, you know not the cost to fix these panels, if they are quickly donned/doffed, etc

Yea, I am looking forward to that.

Its ok to dream, we are probably not far away from being able to have a conversation with our truck.

"Back in and park a meter from that tree".

"Do you think we can make it up that slope?"

"Does the sand look too soft for you?"

"Remind me to move out 30 minutes before the rising tide locks us in"

"I'm going for a walk to Guido's coffee shop, Come and wait for me in an hour, parking is only 15 mins."

"Deliver this load to xxx, a tall skinny guy with glasses called Joe will unload. And then find a nearby parking spot and wait for me"
