Ben is kind of a whiny baby IMO. I do agree with him the CT interior is a bit overly minimalistic, but Ben is still a big baby.

Fair evaluation I think.
If you haven't seen Sandy Munro's comparison videos on youtube (there are 5 total), they're much better IMO. He's having to go a lot on specs and from an engineer's perspective. Episode 3, in particular, is very interesting (Driveline & Off-Roading)

I find it odd that there is no mention of bed sizes in his video though he did admit that he is not a truck guy. Rivian @ 4.58' foot, Ford 5.5' and the CT at 6.5'. IMO, in order to be truly a utilitarian truck, it needs to be able to load in a 4'x8' sheet of plywood, drywall, etc and only the CT can pull that off (with the tail gate down admittedly). Now legally they all can do it with overhang but I think that sort of takes it out of the utilitarian class. I believe rear overhang up to 4' is allowed.
CT will have a "flip stop" according to Musk, allowing safe transport of 4 x 8. I haven't seen this as an option on either Riv or Ford.

My 5 trucks and numerous truck experience has shown me that you can't please everyone! The CT by all I've read ir the people on this forum has shown me the CT is as close to a true pleaser as you can get. I'm hoping all the supply chain problems can be resolved in due time. I can only hope the truck will be what was presented.

I gave up on Ben as a source of unbiased information a long time ago. He comes across as an arrogant troll IMO.

An opinion is an opinion, he states that this is his opinion many times. I think many of you are bashing him because you disagree with his opinion. He stated he is not a truck person anyways, so why giving it so much attention?

Saying that he does have a point. The following has lots of my opinion....

The Cybertruck does have a radical look at meee vibe and that is a put off for many people. Also the argumentatively overly minimalized interior design is also a put off for many people.

The F-150 man has that gotten cluttered with controls, our 2015 has half as many buttons and knobs. Looks like they wanted to prove they have lots of tech by putting in more buttons, primarily on the steering wheel. I also wouldn't call it the fully utilitarian option... that's just the marketing successfully pushing that image.

The Rivian does look to be a reasonable compromise between overwhelming with buttons and knobs.

Traditionally (pre 1980's trucks) they were built more around function, which dictated appearance. The general appearance continued with marketing pushing the bigger/tougher look which has in my opinion made the trucks less useful. I'm 6'4 and have a hard time getting stuff out of our f-150, the little Nissan in many ways is more useful though is way underpowered.

What sold me on the CT is the 500 mile range, me living in the rural south west, using the trucks as trucks which means the paint gets scratched, hell even the dogs in the back have torn up the paint on the sides of the bed.

Cybertruck has no more of on purpose look at meee vibe than a Ford Model A or T did in 1903.

The Cybertruck was designed based on function just like a Model A/Y looks completely different than a horse.

Apple iPad looked different from Blackberry because it had a different method of operation.
A PC used for typing looks different from a mechanical typewriter.

People just need to get over it.

I’m not a muscle car guy. That’s why you don’t find hour long videos of me talking about muscle cars.

What sold me on the CT is the 500 mile range, me living in the rural south west, using the trucks as trucks which means the paint gets scratched, hell even the dogs in the back have torn up the paint on the sides of the bed.
Fundamentally, even though you say you “agree” with him, your actual decision isn’t based on any of the point he made… which is what most of us are irritated by.

The guy spent about 10 seconds in the entire video talking about range which is arguable one of the single most important aspects of the truck. He spent more time talking about color availability than the truck’s actual ability to get from point A to point B. He spent about 3 seconds talking about price which is another pretty fundamental thing here.

He similarly ignores cargo capacity and towing capacity which are pretty glaring weaknesses of the Rivian.

Fundamentally, do you buy a truck based on whether it has a wood grain interior or based on it’s ability to cover distance and haul things?

Well, looks like Ben did not originally really listen to his wife's, Jenny, opinion.
Jenny final got through to him that NO, the Rivian truck is not a work truck.
The R1T bed is only 4.5 ft which is too short ( not just for lumber but even for moving common furniture items like a couch).

Many truck people also tried to explain to Ben that R1T bed was too short for a work truck.
That is why most work trucks have a 6.5ft bed like Ford F-150/250, Chevy Silverado, RAM 1500/2500 and future Cybertrucks.

Here is the video where he lets Jenny talk at first so he changes to the Rivian SUV.
I could only listen for the first minutes while Jenny explains why the Rivian truck will not work.
I had to stop watching when Ben starts ordering the Rivian SUV.
