Have you seen anyone post the cost difference (total out of pocket) between a cash buy, and a lease + immediate buyback?
I went through with the lease and buy last month. It saved about $6k from buying it upfront. There are a few additional fees so you don’t save the entire $7500 but still a better deal. It was super easy as well.

very curious, what were the numbers on the buyout of the lease and the amount of the residual??? thinking about the same thing but I can’t see how the numbers really work and I have no idea what it costs to buy out the lease from day one with respect to interest and fees due under the lease contract

any numbers you could share would be super helpful!

So I knew what I was going to do so I put 18k out of pocket and then the early buy out number was $59k. That was with tax and the extra fees you pay. If I were to just buy it with tax, it would have been almost 84k

Thanks - they don’t quote the buyout when you’re approving lease terms in the app so I have to follow up with them to see what the numbers look like! Thank you so much!

I had chase as the lender it took 24 hours to be able to call in and request the buy out number. The entire process took less than a week because I already had a lender ready to go.

Same with my experience. I wasn’t eligible for tax credit, lease and buyout got me some savings

wow, this new lease deal is really tempting, and only a little more for 12,000 miles per year

Doesn’t the tesla website show you the amount in the details?

on a base AWD in Los Angeles including tax it shows $829/month with $11,700 total due at signing with a $57,390 buyout for a rough total of $98,105. It says it already includes the “tesla $7,500 leasing incentive.

vs

A cash buy = $91,232

Not cheaper to just buy it right off the bat? Am I calculating something wrong?

Chase can provide an adjusted lease buyout amount for early buyout. The amount shown on the Tesla website is based on completing the lease term and then buying at the end of the lease.

Also consider which state the leased vehicle will be registered as sales tax may apply monthly or upfront etc.

Fuck leasing this bad ass machine. I’m going to buy a 3rd one just in case the big man decides the CT will be limited production due to sales decline. I am driving these trucks until they don’t drive anymore.
I was thinking the same. Not all vehicles are a hit so cut his losses now. No more production. Would be crazy though.

there was a Forbes article discussing cyber truck production speculating that Tesla might see more like 10% volume growth in cyber truck sales in 2025 as opposed to the projected 20% due to headwinds on EV purchases.

my point is that they are still selling cyber trucks and expected to sell more in 2025 than 2024.

how much 2024 inventory is still sitting around is something that I do not know. Many have seen the YouTube video at some tesla store showing maybe 8 cyber trucks on a lot on Dec 31 (stating there are many more around the corner, which he never bothers to show) and claiming for Clickbait that it is the end of the cyber truck world.
