Do you spend 2 hours with a checklist for every car you purchased at dealerships too? I bet they love you.
Nope, I do not do this regularly. Since the Cybertruck is the first model of its kind, I spent a lot more time than usual for my own purposes since it is the first time I’ve actually sat in one physically. I’m glad I did because there were numerous issues that needed to be recorded on a Sunday delivery with limited staff. I also had to wait for the delivery specialist to complete another delivery before getting to mine.

At the end of the day and IMHO, it’s not about how the service center feels but more about myself paying for a vehicle that I’m happy with especially since the delivered price is drastically higher than the announcement plus the $20k Foundation Series up charge. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to spend more time than needed at delivery, we all have better things to do but attention to detail is more than required for something this expensive and new.

Like I mentioned in my earlier post in this thread, this is all personal preference, and this is my personal preference. But we are all different so YMMV. ?

I have my pickup scheduled for Monday 5/20 at 12:30 pm. I am going to have to bring my 5 month old with me and I was wondering how long the pickup process takes?

When I have purchased a car from a traditional dealership it has been a 2-4 hour long ordeal. I'm that won’t be the case with my CT delivery.

It will only take:
1. as long as your process takes to do pre-inspection
2. your ability to get the attention of the staff as they are nowadays almost understaffed.
3. How much of the pre-d3livery tasks you have done.

You'll be driving out of there in no time as soon as they activate your app access.

Make sure you go with a 100 point checklist and don't forget the magnifying glass. You must go over every square inch of the car before you accept delivery. Plan about 2-3 hours for your inspection.
Don't forget to take detailed photos (along with a backup drive for those photos and a wifi hotspot to immediately back up to the cloud) so that you've thoroughly documented the receiving condition - surely you've done this with every vehicle you've ever acquired.

I could never go back to a traditional dealership. Granted I'm in Florida and have a Service Center near by but both my Model S six years ago and my recent Model Y were flawless deliveries. That and the fact my Model S never really needed servicing in six years with the exception of a 12 volt battery which they came out to my house to replace. During our recent Model Y purchase we were in and out well under 30 minutes.

The key is having everything lined up ready to go before you get there. Now the Cybertruck is new so I expect to give mine a closer inspection and make them note anything. Mine is supposed to be here at the end of the month hopefully it goes as smooth as my first two deliveries.
This is just another example of how things are wildly different depending where you are. Some people have Tesla come to them, think about how amazing that is! Other people need to drive many hours to get service, while taking a day off of work because the service location is M-F only. Then they get Uber credits to get home, because they don't even do loaners at every location.

It's why there is such massive dissent amongst people on here regarding the Tesla experience. Where you live likely shapes the Tesla reality, both sides are right, location means everything. I absolutely love Teslas products, but for me the buying and service experience is the worst of any automaker I've ever dealt with, and by a large margin. The fact I'm going through the process a second time even though the experience is sub-abysmal shows how much I love their vehicles.

gonna depend on your SC but I picked up mine with wife, 2 year old and 3 week old. In and out in less than 30 min. Paperwork is quick but taking the time to inspect the truck should be your focus if you’re dedicating time. I got lucky and my truck was (crosses fingers I don’t jinx it) perfect. Good luck!
