I took my CT for a bit of baja running through some open fields and got it properly dirty. It was dry, so no mud just good ol dirt and dust thrown about whilst racing laps and doing donuts. General restrained debauchery. Washed it up, but after three washes, was still getting dirt puddles drying on top of the rear bumper. I'm like man, eventually I'm going to get all this dirt out of the cracks, right? Well today after washing I decided to wipe out all the jambs, and when I opened the tailgate I immediately realized the problem :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I did not expect that much dust to get in! LOL next carwash I need to open the vault.

Also broke off one of my rear wheel air dam deal-eos. I got a clip and put it back on but it looks like it might fall off again. Is anyone making an elimination kit for these yet? The fronts look fine removed but the rears leave it unfinished with the rocker.

There are four T-20 screws that hold it on in addition to the clips, need to pull rocker cover mostly off to get to them. (you can leave front side wheel fairing alone).

If you stand beside the bed and look towards the inside bottom of the tailgate, where it meets the bed, you can see a very large opening. I believe they did this for water drainage, but certainly as you kick up dust, a bunch of it will swirl up there and end up settling into the bed. When I saw it, I was surprised, as I've never seen a gap that big on any truck I've owned before. I'll try and get a pic if I can.

Oh I see. Must have ripped through where the screws were. Guess I'll order another one.
Yeah, we only removed the fronts before off roading. Terrain mostly removed one of the rears. One or two screw bosses kept it attached. Was $15 to buy the plastic piece (no fasteners) from Tesla.

Here is a sure-fire, easy low-cost fix. I just got back from an 80 mile trip on dusty dirt roads and, as usual, no dust in the vault. https://www.cybertruckownersclub.co...ed-of-the-cybertruck.18224/page-3#post-353022

My tanue leaks when it rains. Big time. Front of bed is soaking wet. SC said, it's not water proof. A guy on here said they added slats to his cover, it doesn't leak anymore
Also. My charge port was full of dirt. Need Q tips to clean out dirt. Check before you jam connector in port

Yep I and a handful of others have added a seal to the bottom portion where the tailgate and bed meet. It prevents dust from getting in and keeps it nice and clean !

It was very easy to seal it. Tesla should deliver the truck with a removable seal installed. We could remove it when hauling wet cargo or when traveling with the tonneau open, allowing water in the bed to quickly drain out, and re-install the seal when you need the vault to be dust-free.

In my hack I left ½ inch gaps in the seal at the left and right ends. I can see through the gaps to the ground so I know it will drain, slowly; but the gaps don't allow much dust inside the vault, perhaps because of a little positive airflow into the vault from the edges of the tonneau.

On a recent off road trip that kicked up a lot of dust, I took a Blue tarp (got this for a few bucks at Home Depot) and just tucked it into that gap prior to raising the tailgate. That kept all the dust from getting into the bed. When I was done, I just folded up the tarp for another day.

I fixed my dust problem using a different approach. I used a self-adhesive rubber weather seal strip (the kind that is a hollow dome shape) and attached it to the tailgate (see pics). Downside is that you could rip it off by sliding items in and out of bed (but this has not been an issue for me so far). You position the seal on the tailgate so it gets compressed perfectly into the gap when closed. The integrated ridges in truck make it so when you slide flat stuff, it is raised up by the ridges so as to not want to rip off the weather seal. Working great so far for me, although looks a bit wonky, I acknowledge.

I read in a previous post that the gap creates a vacuum that sucks in dust. I *think* cracking open the tonneau would eliminate that vacuum and solve the problem. I spent a hundred bucks and a few hours trying to plug that gap and in the end, the answer was just to crack the tonneau. ??‍♂
