Electrical charging port location?

In order to place my home charging device in the best place, I need to know where the charging port is located on the cyber truck.

Tesla's wall charging connector is available with a 24 foot long cable:

But the charging routine is of course easier if the connector is closer to the port.

Depends on cable length where you should put it but..

I recommend putting the charging cable at the center of the truck on the drivers side.

This way, if you back in or nose in you can easily reach.

Something like this is awesome too. I'm too cheap to buy it so I rigged up something myself

That guy in the video is real clueless.

He's using a J1772 with adapter (and a more expensive EVSE) to charge a Tesla. It's not hard-wired which is a no-brainer for such an installation. that cable management arm would be totally uneccessary if he had mounted a Tesla Wall Connector about 3 feet rearward of where his EVSE is currently mounted. The Tesla Wall Connector does not cause the charge handle to stick out perpendicular to the wall and would not require that silly adapter that makes the unweildy J1772 charge plug even more unweildy and stick out further from both the wall and the vehicle (when charging). .

If a Wall Connector was in the corner of the garage, it could easily charge a car parked in either stall without that ridiculous cable management arm. And remember, boys and girls, hard wiring your EVSE is super simple, more reliable and more efficient, and costs a lot less than a silly NEMA 14-50 outlet. Total newbie mistakes (or mistakes of someone not thinking clearly).

Or someone who got a free wall charger? I think that's possible. Or maybe he got it cause he had other non tesla cars lol who knows.

I do think he didn't use to have 2 evs so the choices were probably not future proof.

Over head wire installation is awesome though. Which was really the point.

I don’t think that Chris is clueless but he does advertise things. Both of his cars are Teslas and I think his wife charges the Model X in the garage.

I wouldn't recommend spending a lot of money on an early Cyber Truck charging solution just yet...

What if the first generation of the truck is released and it has some form of vehicle-to-grid or vehicle-to-home hardware on board (like the Ford truck), but you need a special Tesla EVSE to interface the truck with your home electrical system? You may have to re-purchase the charging solution or run larger wire, etc. to get those features if you've already installed something...

You'll have plenty of time to install an appropriate charging solution once the truck's charging feature set is more well known. That's my two cents worth...

If you have no interest in those newfangled features I just mentioned or don't care about maximizing the charging electrical circuit to the max that the truck will charge at, then by all means go forward with a traditional charging solution...

Thank you for your input. My situation is this: I have had the Version 3 Tesla home charging unit installed in my garage in anticipation of one day receiving my Cybertruck. The charging unit came with an 18' cable that will hopefully reach the truck's charging port, wherever it may be located. Once upon a time I saw a Tesla Cybertruck update that indicated the charging port would be at the rear of the passenger side rear fender. I have no idea is that is correct or not.

Such a report clashes with the Beta prototypes and all prior Tesla vehicles. Unless you're expecting a Cybertruck in the UK or Australia...
