Notice this is the first reference to FSD

here styled as FSD "capability"

So read between the lines here:

First, FSD cost is extra/in-addition

There's nothing on this order page for including FSD yet

So, my read continues to be that Cybertruck does not yet include ability to run AP/FSD, but of course it will in the future be able to have it added
Actually the Foundation Series does include FSD as “included” in purchase price, as per the recent employee offer posted on this website.

Hard to explain this nuance

The employee offer says FSD capable.

Employees get FSD for free.

We’ll have to wait and see what is included for non-employee buyers.

But, it’s possible that employees get a defacto “worse” deal in that included FSD would be of no added value to them, but would be valuable to non-employee buyers (eg $7K worth of value).

But an entirely separate matter that may be confusing in the above posts, esp if I’ve been unclear, is whether AP/FSD is currently functional in any Cybertruck.

If not, then I’m of two thoughts:
it’s capable but not yet functional, and including it in Foundation cost would almost be obligatory to mitigate the corporate embarrassment.

And I think there are *a lot* of good reasons for believing that AP/FSD are not presently functional in any Cybertruck. The reason for that, I believe, is that they are not playing nice with steer by wire/RWD.

well, that settles that

per other thread of a Tesla employee showing all the inclusions:

Founders series includes in price AP/FSD, which isn’t in the truck yet and will come in a “future” update

will still have to wait and see non-employee pricing

I just received the foundation series invitation. Will I lose the regular reservation if I give up the invitation?

As there is a chance that if you cancel the foundation invitation that you go to the back of the queue, you might consider putting down the $250 and if you don't follow up you are only out $250.

Now having said that, you are left with the problem that if you don't follow up with your order will tesla penalize you somehow. You might want to phone or better yet go to a tesla dealership and ask them

just called them, and the customer service lady doesn't even know the answer. Going to the store to seek help. I don't think I am going to cancel manually, just leave it be at this moment.

It's really unfortunate that this is so unclear. Sorry all! I want to think that you don't lose your place, but also unsure ??

Will update you guys after getting the answer from the store, but I feel so uncomfortable that even the people in the store might not know the answer. The lady on the phone told me that they don't have any cybertruck sales specialist so far, it's a very tough question for her or her co-workers around her.

word of caution:

I wouldn’t expect the people at the store to have any better idea

but at a store you *might* get someone who merely *thinks* they know

so take assertions with some skepticism

when it comes to details prioritization of pre-order res #s, in if-then conditional situations, I’d be dubious of info that isn’t published online by Tesla corporate

Not because even then will they will necessarily stand behind it, but because the social pushback on changes will at least factor into any decisions to change it

Went to Dallas — Cedar Springs store. Associate wasn’t sure (of course) but their suggestion to me was if I don’t want the founders and want to wait for the standard AWD to not go through to the design phase of the offer and just ‘leave it’ and my “place in line” *should* remain in tact since my RN should remain. Notice all the conditional-speak.

They were more definitive that if I put in the order and then back out after paying the order fee now my RN is converted to an order number and that can’t be restored.

I want to know definitively that if I leave it (I don’t see a decline option) that in 1-2 months time I’ll be offered to configure the standard edition. Hopefully someone credible provides that info.

If it’s take-it-or-leave-it back to the back of the line then I will reluctantly take it so I don’t have to wait until 2025 to get the offer to design again ? I just can’t see them doing that to the early reservers though.

the challenge, unfortunately, is the likelihood they offer no such public comment and clarification before it could be too late to execute on the order

tough spot and frustrating for you I’m sure

A childhood buddy of mine, is a day 1 reservation holder in the Bay Area and just got his founder’s invite. He said when he gets it I can come out and test drive it. So I’ve got that going for me…

$120,000!
$120,000!!!
My entire 4br 2b home in city limits of Dallas Texas in 2020 cost me $190,000
Crazy
It is folly to waste your money or allow yourself to be cheated Proverbs 21:20
but
To be robbed of $120,000 for an EvTruck that is almost the entire cost of my home I live-in.
Ok
I know IceTrucks are just as bad or even worse but a fool and his money are soon departed maybe a true statement.

I’ve got a smaller and much older house than that in Orange County, CA that is worth $1.1M according to Zillow. Mind you I paid less than half that for it but the real estate market has been crazy in the last decade. Anyway I’m justifying it as only costing 10% of what my house is worth, that’s not bad right? ?
