I've had a number of annoying things happen since the last few point releases. Currently on 14.2.2.5.

I don't know which update started it, but one of the 14.2 versions.

1. Heavy phantom brake near my house at night. Same spot each time. The emergency braking alarm sounds too. It's really bad because on this road people love to tailgate and I'm afraid they will think I'm brake checking them. It also startles me even though I know it's coming now. It knocks things around in the truck too.

2. Uturns at night are complete garbage. Even in the daytime now they don't make a wide enough turn. But are better in the daytime. I had 2 fail at night where the truck needed to back up. No reason for that.

3. When making a right turn on to a 4 lane road the truck will wobble itself over to the left lane. Used to do the proper turn into the right lane.

4. Entering I4 near my house there are 2 lanes. One is for East and one for West. Ever since I got FSD on the truck it always chose the correct lane. Now it heads for East instead of West. Really annoying when it has been fine all this time until the last couple updates.

I did a reset of the screen to see if that might help. Nope.

None of these annoying things happen on my 2026 Juniper. So seems to be only the Cybertruck.

Yea I have also noticed more phantom breaking near your house. At first I thought it was that funky mailbox being mistaken for a real manatee but turns out not the case. Isn’t as bad during the day time.

I have experienced some phantom braking, some jittery driving, and some erratic lane changes on top of the car-initiated disengagements I reported earlier.

The balance between ā€œHurryā€ and making a right hand turn… FSD is beside itself.
400 feet before a right hand turn, it’ll move into the left most lane. . . Thankfully, it’s a software thing and will be addressed.

Only issue that drives me nuts is the hard braking the instant a light turns yellow.

I've experienced quite a few regressions lately:

  • Navigation - the weakest part of FSD - has gotten even worse. My truck has given up even trying to get into a left turning lane, and now just cruises past them without even signaling to move over to the correct lane. It used to switch lanes late. Now it doesn't try even where going straight is an impossible route with no options other than a u-turn.
  • Very hard braking on yellow lights - ones I'd definitely go through.
  • Back to switching to lanes that are about to end - 200m before a lane ends FSD will change to it.
  • Indecision - FSD occasionally wobbles the steering wheel between options and struggles to decide whether to go left or straight. Most often happens in parking lots.
  • Doesn't reach the speed limit on any speed profile - gets to about 3 or 4 km/h of it but won't do the speed limit unless I apply the go pedal.

My number of interventions has gone from near zero to several each trip.

Edit: typo.

Had hard brake driving through intersection, green light, could not see cause. No marks on road. No pedestrians. Pulled me hard off the backrest of my seat lmao. Thank god no one there behind me.

I am having armor added to my unit so it is in the shop. I have a loaner and It drives more dangerous than mine I noticed right away..... it cuts other drivers off much closer than I ever would....It turned left from the second lane from the left..... on FSD it turned left fine onto the street leading to my street but wanted to make an immediate right turn Ito a dead end street when my street was two blocks down with a left turn and then a right turn. I have notice it slowing or braking for shadow objects like tar or sealant on the road or dark pavement areas. Much worse than earlier version. IMO

Yes, many of the same problems, especially phantom stop signs in same place. But a couple weeks ago I traded my 2024 CT with FSD14 for a 2026 CT that came loaded with FSD13. It’s a little less E2E autonomous but SO MUCH BETTER in so many other ways, mostly because I can set a precise speed in my neighborhood and on roads with no traffic. The ā€˜wrong speed’ issue is easily corrected. Tesla had a big winner driver assist system with FSD13, now theyā€˜ve got an erratic autonomous wanna be with FSD14. I have no intention of updating as I now have a workable driver assist system that doesn’t frustrate me or freak out my wife with erratic behavior like FSD14.

You're lucky.

If I could downgrade to 13 I would, just for the max speed control.

Speed profiles have taken all the magic out of FSD for me, because I constantly have to apply the go pedal or disengage.

I feel relieved - I absolutely loved FSD until version 14. I know so many people claim to love FSD14, but the loss of speed management killed it for me. I asked Tesla to return my 2024 to FSD13 but they refused at several levels. I was told driver input was an old fashioned legacy cruise control feature and that the AI would do a much better job. Didn’t work that way for me. I was told the goal was full autonomy. (That’s not my goal as the owner, and not what I paid for). The speed profiles made FSD frustrating and unsafe- too slow, too fast, constant anxiety for speeding or getting tailgated as the truck slowed down for no apparent reason, or worse, slowed abruptly for a phantom stop sign or swerved for something in the road that wasn’t actually there. I’m delighted to have FSD13 back- scroll wheel speed correction makes the difference between experiencing magical delight of a ā€˜self driving’ vehicle, and just not wanting to use FSD.

Speed profiles work pretty good for me. I use standard but if I feel it's too slow I move to hurry. If I want to go fast then I just change to Mad Max. I don't have any complaints with that system.

The other regressions I mentioned are much worse. I just want the truck to drive from point A to B without slamming on the brakes or making the wrong lane change or getting stuck in the wrong exit.

The uturns were great before. Now I have to take over sometimes. Hopefully 14.3 fixes these.

I agree that there have been numerous ā€˜behavioral problems’ test were not present in 13. Some things are better in 14, like lane centering, and heavy traffic maneuvering.

But for me, the speed management is the main issue. I was adapting to the 14 profiles, rolling up and down for speed changes, but it sure took a lot more driver input. It has really become apparent now that I’m using 13 again. It’s pretty much set and forget, and easily and precisely manage the speed with the scroll wheel. that’s about it- minimal frustration. I’m also much happier being able to set ā€˜behavior’ and ā€˜speed offset percentage’ independently from the speed profile. With 14 if you scroll up to go faster, you also get more assertive. That’s not always good.

I’m glad you’re happy with 14- it’s not that it’s bad, I just find 13 much better for me. Speed profiles are pretty good, but for me the previous speed management system is much much better.

I have my loaner and on FSD going to church to work out fish fry this afternoon the posted speed was 35 and the loaner I have is only going 32 in a 35 zone my CT is in for the armor installation ant set at standard would be going 42 not the 32 the loaner is going Go figure
