My truck consistently gets the speed limits wrong to the point that I gave up on FSD. Every time I leave my house it thinks my neighborhood speed limit is 55!
At least in metro Phoenix it pretty damn good. I’d say in the area I live where I’m familiar, I’m still better than it at avoiding mistakes like this but in a strange city I’ve never driven, I’m probably just as likely to make errors related to traffic laws.
Honestly.

I'm in Tennessee with tons of hills and winding roads. Going too fast will very quickly see you off the road here. Without manual speed control it's too risky for me to use.

Was browsing Etsy and found this:

Got me wondering how many people feel that FSD is good enough that “supervised” is really only a formality now.
What do you think? Would you be willing to take your eyes completely off the road as it stands now if liability wasn’t a concern? Would you trust your life and your family’s life to it?

It has definitely earned my trust over time and is VERY GOOD. Edge cases are everything and will be interesting if HW4 processor and the CT existing hardware (camera, sensors etc) will be able to solve the conundrum.

So…money where our mouths (or keyboards) are. If you had an opportunity to buy one of the first cybercabs because you already purchased FSD say, would you lay down $30k and let it drive you around?
Commercial use prohibited.

I’ll do better than that. If Elon lets me sign a contract that puts full liability on me in exchange for unsupervised FSD, I’ll gladly be the guinea pig.

In some ways I’d say they have delivered on that. The car is capable of driving driveway to driveway without any intervention. So in that sense it fully self drives. But does it have to be supervised?

Is driveway to driveway actually what other people see? I have a long gravel driveway and it never worked. I would engage FSD and it would move about 10 feet then stop because it was confused. if I tried going home it would get a few hundred feet from my house then just stop in the road.

For me, every day and to wherever I input into the navigation. Mostly flawlessly.
Honestly.
Maybe Phoenix is simpler than other places because there is lots of space? I don’t know.
There is a thread on here somewhere about updating your Google Maps location manually to improve the Tesla navigation abilities immediately near your house.

I saw that thread a while back but Google maps knows exactly where my house is. It's only my truck that can't quite find it. navigation in general is pretty good but it does like to send me through tiny back roads whenever possible.

Currently yes and I'm fine with that. The Cybertruck is fun to drive and I will always want that option.

Would I sleep? No but I can’t sleep when my wife drives, and I trust the truck more. But I would watch a movie On the main display, or behind the steering wheel. I feel that would be just enough a of a distraction to kill a long road trip, while still being able to pay some attention, while keeping an eye one the road. Less so than texting or playing a game on my phone.

FSD is not autonomous. Tesla says so themselves. FSD is SUPERVISED. If someone wants to pretend their car is fully autonomous, then sure, statistically, your vehicle will crash or kill someone less often that a vehicle without FSD where the driver fell asleep… but thats too risky of a bench mark for me to take on that liability myself. The “Tesla said” legal argument was gone YEARS go. Even EM’s comments like “14.3 will make your car FEEL autonomous” is not Tesla saying your car is autonomous, go ahead and take a nap.

Agreed capable, but not consistently able to do it safer than a human without supervision.
Better than it was, but still quite a ways from being capable of going to pick my kids up from soccer practice and bring them home while I am still at work.
