Don't fall for the FOMO. It's $12k now. Tesla will announce price changes. You can make up your mind later if they plan to raise it. They may even lower it. It used to be $15k.I don't think "safest" means what you think it does.
If you don't buy FSD when it's relatively affordable, then how will you get it once it can actually drive itself? FSD is unlike a normal option you buy on a legacy car, like a heated steering wheel or upgraded stereo because it totally transforms the car into something else.
I got FSD for free (after buying EAP) and my cars have 120k-130k miles on them. Do you think by the time FSD acts like a Waymo, my car will still be on the road? They'll probably be on it's last leg at 300k miles or my kids will break them. If I had subscribed, I can change to a new car at anytime, and not wait for promotions. I didn't transfer using the promotion because my cars are going to my teens. Also, transfer doesn't work for the Cybertruck, and foundation came with FSD purchsed already so it stayed on my older Teslas.
Anyway, I'm not here to change your mind or anyone's mind about FSD. My advice is just sub now if you want FSD. Buy it out right if you want. Don't bother me a bit. I don't make any money based on people buying or subscribing. Just personally, if I didn't have FSD, I will just sub.
