Every time I watch a vid of the Austin GF I'm amazed at the scale of logistics that must be required to just move those cars off the line and get them onto carriers for delivery. It has to be a huge labor cost,.

Which got me to thinking.... why not use the FSD to have the cars drive themselves off and into the staging areas, etc?

Anybody else think this would be doable? Seems like a little streamlining design around how they are staged and loaded could make this pretty easy.

Remember, the best driver is NO driver!

I reckoned at this stage, it is better to pay people at lower wages to manually drive the cars around, than to second AI experts who are doing more important things to come up with patchwork solutions.

My idea is one day, they will implement a comprehensive logistical AI solution for all locations.

I think humans should still drive the cars around after they are done so they are part of quality control.

Because it cannot do it confident 100%. FSD is in the poor (test) level yet. Nobody wants to take responsibility for any damage FSD could potentially make. Also, it could slow down the traffic dramatically if something goes wrong that could leave slowing down the manufacturing process.
One day it will be fully automatically, but not today

you might thought about the feature, but never mentioned it in your original post...
English is my forth language, but I did not see grammatically any use of "showing the feature tense" words".
Sorry, if I misunderstood your post.

If FSD is working, they should have the completed cars drive themselves to the train depot in Hutto.

Yep, just think of how much tighter the parking could be if there's no human driver having to open doors. Also, no need to turn on climate controls.

If 90% of Teslas are loaded onto a train before sale, seems like investing some time creating a “Load” and “Unload” mode for them would be a good idea. The cars could be pulled to the back of the train, pilot gets out, puts the car into train mode and pushes the load button. Car pulls into the train and stops where it can be secured. At the far end, an operator opens it up and presses the unload button and it reverses out.

Maybe 5 days programmer time, hundreds of hours of driver time eliminated.
