A YTer was showing at night or in the rain... the profile switched to a more conservative profile automatically when the message popped up fsd degraded.

TMK, the only forced change of the speed profile happens in perceived hazardous conditions. Unfortunately right now it seems to be a bit sensitive. I think you can see it in his main video.

He says he ends up stuck in Chill until about 2 mins after the light rain stops. He could lower the speed profile but not go above Chill.

If Chuck Cook (or anyone) has issues with being forced into a speed profile they are getting a dose of what some of us don’t like when FSD breaks laws on the upper end. All we need is a supervised profile for unsupervised driving (I.e., a profile that tries to drive as Tesla envisions unsupervised driving working). All speeds and behaviors would be based on safety and legality. Maybe leave the other speed profiles as is for those that like them. I do not see either Chill or Sloth as being the same; they do not drive well either.

In watching YT videos from influencers I have come to the conclusion that they aren’t providing nearly enough objective truth and are being way too positive, presumably to keep their influencer status with Elon. So I have weaned myself from watching. Now, with this 10x parameter increase debacle, I cannot trust Elon to live up to his own roadmap. I think the only sane way forward, for me, is to take whatever comes when it comes. I don’t know if I can succeed at this but I’ll try.

In watching YT videos from influencers I have come to the conclusion that they aren’t providing nearly enough objective truth and are being way too positive, presumably to keep their influencer status with Elon. So I have weaned myself from watching. Now, with this 10x parameter increase debacle, I cannot trust Elon to live up to his own roadmap. The first release of a major branch will always have some regression because of how the NN is trained and refined.

With 14.3 we will see much quicker iteration and feature progression from now on due to the complier refresh.

There is some confusion which sub-version from 14 it is, latest comment I saw was 14.2.2.5
The “training/test” video people have to watch, and answer a quiz about before being allowed to use FSD shows using the right scroll wheel to set max speed!
would that mean it is possible? And might come back in the USA version of FSD also?

Maybe saying brutally honest is a bit too much. I’d say this last video of his was fairly critical, but remained fair. He talked about these things in his recent

- He mentioned Elon’s long history of over promising things with FSD, but not delivering them on time (or at all).
- Also mentions that it sounds like Elon is backtracking his statements about customers getting unsupervised FSD in the v14 release window.
- The bizarre infinite parking lot boot loop issue, instead of just going down a bit further to area with plentiful spots.
- The poor performance in parking structures.
- Still no ASS, Banish or max speed settings.
- He mentions that there isn’t much change between 4.3 and 4.2 overall in feel.
- No significant improvement in the speed profiles and stop sign behavior.
- Issues going through roundabouts.
- FSD’s struggles with reading the speed limit signs accurately continues.
- Though improved , still getting dry wipes in sunny weather.

I mean sure he’s still positive about the company line, as am I. I have Faith FSD is going to continue to improve. But he doesn’t seem to be avoiding issues, hiding them or apologizing for Tesla/elon.

I still believe that Tesla FSD will improve; that was not what we were talking about. All of these influencers make it sound like FSD is deep in the march of 9s. It isn’t. It cannot reliably choose the correct lane to drive in and that is a basic driving skill and not an edge case. They focus on what Tesla has improved and that would be ok if they ever fixed anything that they call out. I know that Chris has noted some issues many times, and maybe he is just tired of doing so. Sadly he is a speeder and a self-proclaimed tailgater so I cannot really believe what he says about speed profiles. He is definitely right that Tesla seems to ignore speed limit signs and I suspect they will pay dearly for that when the NHTSA finally wakes up. I don’t have anything good to say about speed profiles but I’d trust FSD a lot if it could choose the right lane, and either get into it or stay in it. I guess what I am looking for is a more comprehensive list of pros and cons that is independent of what Tesla is saying.
