IF they do get some Cybertrucks out in Q3 it won't be very many.

Would you want the first Cybertrucks to roll off the production line? Not me... ?
Quality is actually better than average at the start of production because they spend a lot more time going over every detail. It’s as if each one is hand crafted.

The second wave is where they bring on scale and less skilled people join the line and things get potentially sloppy.

Eventually as the third wave comes along, they’ve worked out a bunch of controls and procedures to prevent the problems found in the second wave.

With that said, if anyone is unlucky enough to be called in Q3 and they’re unsure if they should take delivery… we can swap places. :)

I'd be super surprised if any deliveries come out of TX in 2021. That said, the Chinese Giga factory construction and production commencement way overperformed the starting timeframe that most commentators were predicting.

When can I expect a dual motors to be delivered in Canada? I dont have past experience with Tesla. How many months apart between US and Canada deliveries?
First Model X September 2015 -> First Canadian Model X June 2016
First Model 3 July 2017 -> First Canadian Model 3 May 2018
First Model Y March 2020 -> First Canadian Model Y June 2020

This has not been the case with Tesla in the past.

Quality and finish on both the Model 3 and Model Y improved over time.

That said, Model Ys coming out of China were better quality than the ones coming out of Fremont almost out the gate. Tesla is getting better at making the machines that make the machines.

Musk was quoted a few times saying that they're good at the first ones off the line, then the middle ones are a bit lower quality, then finally they work out the kinks and the rest of the line has fewer issues.

Here's an excerpt from his interview with Sandy Munro:

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/02/03/business/elon-musk-tesla-quality-problems/index.html
"Friends ask, 'When should I buy a Tesla?'" Musk said. "Well, either buy it right at the beginning or when production reaches steady state. During that production ramp, it's super hard to be in vertical climb mode and get everything right on the details."

Munro also questioned Musk about quality control problems more recently. He bought a 2021 Model 3 late last year, and compared it to a Model 3 someone else purchased a month later -- and saw significant improvement.

"At the end of the day, this guy's car was fabulous ... as good as anybody could possibly do," Munro said. "I just don't understand. Mine was built this month, his was built a month later. Mine had problems. His was perfect."

Musk said Tesla continued to make progress even as recently as December of last year, noting that the company is finding issues more quickly as the pace of production continues to speed up.
"When you go faster, you just discover these things," he said. "If we knew them in advance, we'd fix them in advance."

If Tesla adopted tighter QC they would be unstoppable. They excel at software and electronics however.

I would be absolutely shocked if our CT went into production this year. Simply WAY too many stars not in alignment yet to make it happen. Pilot production to fine tune the assembly line and calibrate the robots by the end of December? Only Tesla insiders know the answer. Anything else is pure speculation.

I am looking forward to today’s Q2 earnings call for some possible Cybertruck tidbits from EM.

Based on my experience, building till this level will be very much faster and it’s just30%

remaining 50-70% is challenging.

I may be wrong, but upon seeing the latest video on Austin giga factory,it doesn’t seem quite positive. We may slip by another 1-2 quarters easily.

I just used my Mazda to do three more trips to haul a ton of raw paving stone. My Cybertruck can't come soon enough.

(although admittedly, we're moving the stone so we have a place to put the truck.)

I just picked the lock on my neighbor's trailer so that I could use the trailer to haul lumber from town while he was out of town.

True story.

But I did have his permission... except for the picking the lock part....he told me it wasn't locked up. :D

Am planning to use my CT as a family vehicle and in future, I may use to tow a boat or an RV. This is going to be my primary one. A family of four with two kids of under 5.

Just today I joined this club. Upon seeing, not many plan to use it as a family vehicle. Am I the odd one out?

I love my S, but I can't see keeping the S once I get my CyberTruck. The cost of registration and insurance for the S is far more than the additional cost of electricity for daily driving the truck.
