Finally got the Green Light to have the Half-Shafts replaced. Had a clanking-popping-binding noise coming from the front end. If you here this sound that is your problem. I was told that early models have this problem.

Oh wow, thanks for this post.

I do NOT have the excessive level of ā€œpoppingā€ I heard at the end of your video but I do hear a pop or two at random slow speed turns, exactly as you demonstrated.

Funny thing. I had a Model X and, if any on this board are former X owners, you know they were plagued by half-shaft issues. So maybe Iā€˜m destined to always have this challenge! šŸ˜‚

Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’ve owned two Model X vehicles and a new Cyberbeast. So, I am both a former X and current X owner, as well as owning my CB FS. None have ever had any half shaft issues. All were purchased new. My 2018 MX P100D was sold when it had 65,000 miles on it, my 2023 MXP currently has 20,000 miles on it, and my 2024 CBFS has 41,500 miles on it. I’m sorry you have had such bad luck with yours.

I loved my 2017 X 100D. It was a great vehicle and the half shafts were fixed with an aftermarket part from N2itive that made the X drive like it was brand new again. Gave me years more enjoyment with the vehicle before I moved up to the glorious Cybertruck!

I have the same sound occasionally that you have when you made your right turn. It happens mainly when the suspension loads a little like turning right up a driveway. I assumed it was something in the suspension and never guessed it would be the half shafts... Thank you for posting this!

I should have known better since I have an X that needed 2 sets of front half shafts before it was resolved.

I was worried about this issue when I saw the range of adjustable suspension height. I had a 2016 Model X P90D that had the half shaft replaced a few times. From what I understand, the issue in the Model X was that the drive unit design was iterated from the Model S, but the increase in suspension height caused more wear on the half shaft spline joint when the vehicle was placed in higher suspension. After the last replacement, I was told to keep the height in low, and the issue never reoccurred. I'm wondering if this is the same case with the Cybertruck.

If you're experiencing this, can you post what your suspension settings are?
