Not looking for reactions greatly reduces negative reactions.

"If someone flicks off a Cybertruck in the woods and no one is there to see it, does anyone care?" -George Berkeley probably
yep I don't look at them. Had some honking and other things to get my attention during the peak of the hate and just never looked.

I'm in Atlanta, had my truck since May 2024, still have not had a single bad interaction. Mostly, people are super curious or want to look inside.

I got my truck last June. It was insane how much good attention it got, until last February. Then it was very bad. I am in Boulder, Colorado. It seems to have stopped now. I love the truck and will be keeping it. Just got my lightbar, installed center console fridge. Looking at getting it wrapped next.

I just had one on a 48hr demo from Tesla - precisely because I wanted to see what it was like to live with as I was also worried about the hate.

Honestly some gentle ribbing from 'real' pickup owners who are friends (Promptly quashed when they get a drive in it)

Other than that just seems overblown MSM nonsense.

Also not sure I care now, I've test driven all the EV pickups the last month and for what I want this is far and away the best.
Hey everyone, I’m hoping to buy a Cybertruck soon and wanted a quick vibe check. Back in March the sentiment around me felt pretty negative. I live in a more liberal area, and at the time it seemed like owning a CT drew a lot of eye rolls and snark.

Now it’s August and I’m seeing many more Cybertrucks on the road. For those in similar areas, has the hate died down? How are your day-to-day interactions lately: driving, parking lots, neighbors, at work, Superchargers? Any noticeable shift over the past few months?

I’d appreciate real-world anecdotes before I pull the trigger. Thanks.

hello from Fort Lauderdale For years my wife was in love with it. I always comment that I found it ugly as hell. Finally we test drove one and I was super impressed. End up selling her model Y and bought one.
One week into the ownership, I trade my other 2024 Y and I am picking up our second CT.
I am sure the haters never drove one…
You will love it.
cheers

Southern Cal - never had overt hatred. Lots of love especially by the younger crowd. If I had to chose one demographic to agree with my choice of vehicle, I guess it would be the younger crowd.
but most importantly, I like the CT more and more and every other car (including Model S, X, Y ) seems very old school. (Just steering other vehicles is annoying now).
I just care less and less about what idiots think anyways.
this is one idiot’s opinion.
But in answer to your question , I’d say yes, less CT hate.

Yes, the hate has died down a lot. I live in the Boston area and haven’t had a negative reaction in months. The interactions I do have are curiosity or outright love for the truck.

Get it. You’ll absolutely love it.

Southwest Colorado here. Yes it has died down significantly. I haven’t had a middle finger in a long while. I got a thumbs down 2 months ago in Utah on the 191. Other than that it’s been cool enough that I can finally go to the grocery store with it and not worry about vandals. Each day get a bit more normal.

I still get angry Karens flipping me off once in a while.

But it’s far less often than it was.

Overall, the interactions are much more positive than they are negative

In the end just buy and drive what you like.

People can only flip off an inanimate object so many times before they look in the mirror and realize how foolish they look.

You won't understand how good it really is until you actually drive one, that's something this Colorado HVAC contractor understands:

You can watch it on 1.5x or 1.75x speed and it makes this rant even better.

I'm outside of philly in the suburbs and I occasionally get the finger and coal rolled. Nothing significant. I installed window tint, which seems to have lessened the interactions. I get a lot of people on sentry posing with the truck or trying to look in it.

The amount of hate I get has died down in Western NY. Far fewer middle fingers, but still get them here and there.

The issue is the people who haven't let go of the CT hate, REALLY hate the CT. So if I went from 5 middle fingers per drive to 2 middle fingers per week, I also have 1 or 2 extra obnoxious interactions per month. The last one was someone pouring some sort or juice all over the CT, which looked like crap and required a good scrub. Before that it was spit on, which came off easily, but still gross and annoying and required a wash. When I saw Fantastic 4, I had a group of 8 people stop me on the way into the theater to lecture me since they saw me coming out of my truck. I just walked passed, but obviously I was outnumbered if they were looking for more than words. I was watching my Sentry camera on and off until I was sure they left.

Summary: Less hate now, but the people who still hate need to be watched closely, they are the true psychos.
