What is the best way to haul loose dirt, mulch, etc in the CT bed and protect it? I am most concerned about getting debris in the tonneau track. Anything else I should be concerned with?

I use a 12 x 16 tarp. I hauled a yard of garden soil lately and the tarp folded nicely and was able to close the tonneau after moving a bit of the dirt. If you are careful the tarp will last quite a few loads without tearing it. If you place it right you won’t get anything spilling into the bed! Good luck!

A yard of topsoil should weigh probably 2000 pounds at a minimum, more if damp. I believe that's more than the rating for the box loading. Did you note any issues?

Zero! I also have hauled about 8 loads of 18 6x6 x 10 treated. Some wet without issue. Truck stays dead level. I put down a sheet of 1/2” first so they offloaded easier. Building a 100’ x 3’+ retaining wall and I can’t get a crane truck near so Cybertruck to the rescue?

I would consider renting a dump trailer. You don’t have to worry about dirt and damage to your bed. Plus more importantly it will save your back.

I've always used a tarp with my trucks. It's a truck, I get it. But also, I get that it's irritating as f$%K getting dirt or rock down on the tailgate crack and all the little holes and edges that seem to multiply like fruit flies. No, I use a tarp because I'm either lazy, efficient, or super smart... If you leave enough tarp at the front of the bed and it covers the tailgate, when you get close to having it all unloaded, you can just grab the front and roll the rest right out. Now, you COULD use some rope and a tree and ... well, tarps can rip. But, yeah, smart loading = quick unloading.

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense . Only extra concern with CT is tarp needs to cover the sides so that dirt / mulch / gravel doesn’t get in the tonneau track . Way worse than tailgate crack
