Headlight visibility recall for snow / ice issues?

I'm know most testa recalls can be resolved via software update.

But as the winter comes around and complaints of snow covering the lights to make almost impossible night driving in heavy snow. Do you think there will be a recall for visibility? And how would Tesla resolve it?

Maybe off road light for all Cybertrucks activated by snow?

Any vehicle with recessed led headlights have this problem. Even those with much more miles driven (jeep). Don't expect a recall here. That community generally recommends halogen or other alternatives (that generate heat) vs LED. But again, no recall.

Why would this be a recall? There is nothing wrong with the vehicle, it is a problem with the design of the ledge that accumulates the snow/ice. Any vehicle with LED lights is going to form ice on it, there needs to be heated light covers and/or heating elements on the top of the ledge.

It’s definitely an issue with LEDs and EVs other ice vehicles with LEDs have the engine heat to melt away ice and snow. Cybertruck being an EV, LEDs and that ledge makes it one of the worst in the category.

I tried driving at night in blizzard conditions and it was impossible. ICE vehicle with LEDs I’ve done numerous times no issues.

Don’t see it being a recall but the issue needs to be addressed. I wouldn’t mind buying new headlights that resolve this or an accessory but that doesn’t exist yet.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

I've been driving in mountain snowstorms for over 4 decades and, regardless of the vehicle I drove, there are always conditions that will reduce headlight effectiveness. Even when we had hotter filament-based headlights. Do you know how we dealt with it? We cleared the snow and ice with our gloved hands.

People are so pampered and have such intense feelings of entitlement these days. Either that or they are just "journalists" in disguise who are setting up the groundwork for a story about Cybertuck owners having trouble driving in the snow at night because they were too lazy to clear their headlights (or they claimed the snow and ice was too "stuck" to remove).

Just dumb.

We are not arguing reduced visibility in snowstorms.. we are arguing how the Cybertruck performs the worst due to its design..

I was prepared and did brush off the snow and ice. However, dedicated pull over spots are too far for the Cybertruck.

and due to how bad it performs compared to other vehicles in these conditions, it makes it extremely unsafe to pull over every 5 minutes to scrape and brush ice/snow off.

First hand accounts all say how bad the visibility in the cybertruck is compared to other vehicles in these conditions. Not just slightly worse but significantly worse making it unusable in these conditions.

Depending on how thick the bumper is the tape could even go on the inside of the bumper for a cleaner look

root cause comes down to flawed design or incomplete engineering sure- but ultimately, as it was said in fight club:
"A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one"

Have you tried not driving in blizzard conditions?

NHTSA would recommend you not drive in those conditions.
