Is it even possible? I have the beast in Florida and I am making a road trip in a few weeks. Was just curious if its even possible to find V4 chargers?

Also, Does the cord reach or do I have to park sideways?

  1. Put a map on the wall.
  2. Throw a dart at the map.
  3. There is no V4 there.

Kidding aside, there are about 20 V4 sites listed at https://supercharge.info/

The V4 cables are longer, and I can charge at a V3 no problem.

The website https://supercharge.info has options to filter V4 superchargers, and then you can click on their map view. Just click the filter icon to manage filters and then select Stall Type.

Very easy.

Currently it shows six locations in Florida with V4 chargers, but they're not open yet:

Of course you can check other locations depending on your intended route, but there are only 18 of the V4 Supercharger locations currently open yet in all of the US:

What do you think that a V4 Supercharger is? If you are driving a Cybertruck, there's really no difference between a V3 and V4.
And honestly, at this point it seems that a V4 is loosely defined, but it appears that it is a 250kW pedestal with the magic CCS and NACS connector.

No, you shouldn't have to park sideways at any of the locations, you are driving a Tesla, not a Lightning.
  • Tesla has done a number of things to the Superchargers to get ready for the Cybertruck and other EVs charging:
  • Removed wheel bumpers that were placed perfectly for the cars, just backup to bumper, but not for everyone else.
  • Placing newer chargers nearer the middle of the space. The often means that you may have to be really close to the left line (or over) when facing the Supercharger
  • V4 has the longer cords and the CCS adaptor
If you are filling up and your battery is at ~40% or more, a V2 Supercharger will work just as well as a V3 or V4. That's because the max current at that point is only about 150kW.

While it isn't a hard and fast definition, at the Tesla Supercharge site,
Superchargers = V2 150kW
Superchargers Open to Other EVs = V4 250kW
Superchargers Open to NACS = V3 (Updated) 250kW

There may still be some "Superchargers" that are 250kW but not yet updated to provide "Open to NACS" functionality. It's a small physical update that needs to occur.

But if you set https://www.tesla.com/supercharger to Superchargers open to other EVs, you should be looking at the V4 Superchargers

I thought the v4 superchargers could do the 800v, is that incorrect?

Absolutely incorrect.

At this point......

There is no Tesla infrastructure that supports 800V charging. There really isn't supported 3rd party infrastructure that supports it, because there isn't an approved 800V CCS adapter.

v4 are rumored to support it, but so far no one has observed it in the wild.

That indeed was the hope and speculation once the Cybertruck 800V was announced.

But reality indicates that a V4 pedestal is really just a different pedestal, most of the backend stuff is the same.

And V4 pedestals are realyy rare right now and not normally installed. I've got 2 V3 sites that are newer than my nearest V4 site.

Well, there's rumored to be a v4 back end, but... It would make sense to make it compatible with the older hardware, as well.

Or course, all that vaunted reliability is out the window now. Who knows what it'll be in a year without an engineering team.

I'm curious how you can call tesla announcing 800V charging and architecture as "speculation"?
