I don't know if the Cybertruck weight has been released, what with battery pack upgrades, etc. but yesterday I weighed my 2021 Model Y dual motor performance down at the Farmers Co-op on trade-legal scales and it came in a whopping 5,240 pounds, Over 2 1/2 tons! (counting the me and my not-so-fat passenger)

I would expect the Cybertruck to be somewhat lighter, but any significant weight affects battery range.

On release night, Elon said they were targeting the weight of the ICE Ford F150.

aside from that one comment, we don't know. Certainly lower weight will increase the load capacity of the vehicle, and battery day said they'd have some weight advantages of the new battery pack.

Tesla model y = 4,555 lbs.
F-150 lightning = 6,500 lbs.
Rivian R1T = 7,148 lbs.
Hummer EV = 9,046 lbs. (ha ha ha)
Cybertruck = somewhere between.

Giga casts offset the stainless steel exo skeleton. Weight of the massive glass windshield offsets the weight savings of 4860 structural battery pack. Results. Somewhere around these other ev trucks.

The announced range ("500+ miles") and performance ("0-60 in 3 seconds"!) were based on the target curb weight. I'm skeptical those could be achieved if the CT was exceedingly heavy.

2001 Model Y?

A big truck lighter than a medium size SUV?!! Why?
Or you are not talking about the Tesla Y?

Beliving or not the science, but the theory is there:

If we guesstimate 3,000 load capacity per tire, 3500 truck load capacity, 1,000 reduced conservative estimate, the truck will not be over 7,500 lbs.

Rough estimate of the upper limit, does not exclude lower weight.

If some idiot pulls out in front of you the vehicle with the most mass is going to win.
There is a tipping point where mass starts to affect range and drag.
Stay below that point and you have a safer vehicle (for you, not the tuner Honda that just ran the red light in front of you).
There are already Chicken Littles that are saying EV's are too heavy and are a threat to the driving public.
Some people will bitch just to hear their heads rattle.

Well, some of the EVs are Rivians and Hummers. And others don't stop as fast as they start: Model S Plaid, I'm calling you out!

But yeah, people usually overestimate risks they're unfamiliar with and underestimate risks they are used to.

If my car went from 60 to 0 in under 2 seconds, it would snap my neck.
