They also had a Blazer and something else, but hmm, most of those Bolts came out earlier in the year. Weren't they supposed to get between 50 and 100k this year?

They are “Supposed to” release 20 new EVs this year. They were supposed to hit 50k Bolts shipped 2 years ago. I know some people who take GM’s projections seriously. Makes for some very awkward conversations.

I know Tesla isn’t great about hitting goals, but at least they do something impressive trying to hit them.

38k plus Bolts was a much better result for 2022.

Hopefully 38k Bolts do not have to be returned to GM due to fire risks.
Actually, right now ALL Chevy Bolts are being recalled because of fire risk.

But it is not a problems with the Bolt's EV battery.

The GM/Chevy car company that supposedly has 100 years of relevant experience and produced 100 million vehicles forgot that in an accident the seat belt pre-tensioner is supposed to have a little explosion and the explosion should be kept from setting the cars carpet on fire !!!

Yup, and Ford did it with vehicles that have a much higher average selling price than all those GM/Chevy Bolts.
More important.

Ford did it with vehicles they designed themselves in the past 4-5 years. The bulk of GMs sales are based on the ancient Bolt platform. It’s 2023 and 90% of GMs EVs have a charging curve that looks like this.

I didn't think they'd get 40k Bolts out the door this year...

...But their production numbers were solid this spring. i wonder what the limit was?

And 17k is more Lightnings than I thought would ship.

The funny thing is GM did a perfect job of demonstrating why Tesla delaying the Cybertruck was the 100% correct call.

In Q4, Hummer production tanked so they could shift resources to producing the LYRIQ. If they weren’t so laser focused on getting a handful of LYRIQ out the door, they could have probably produced a like number of Hummers and lost less money overall.

As it stands, they didn’t deliver enough of either to satisfy more than the tiniest fraction of a percent of consumers. GM’s next gen vehicles were rounding error compared to even Ford’s nascent production.

Also, Ford has done much better than I expected. They managed to snipe #2 EV maker rather quickly. Be interesting to see what their 2nd generation of EVs looks like.

A lot of company value is in their leasing debt. In around 3 years, the tail end of ICE will be lingering in that practically unrecoverable debt.

This is the dark shadow hanging over them.

If they don't make inroads to significant EV profit by then... It's too late.

Ford sniped that #2 spot but at what cost?
What was the Lightning's profit margin?

It might be like celebrating selling your birthday cake to buy candles.

Sure. But at least Ford got the market share. GM spent the money and got nada damn thing. GM has blown massive cash and they have less than 1000 cars on their “modern” platform.

The whole press is many crates, yes. IDRA and experience tell us that. I was only talking about the base, but if you have evidence that it comes in sections I can live with that.
Tagging back here, stumbled on this today. Thought I'd show you, John.
