Having spent a stupid amount of time comparing this to the other press to the other 9K they've shown/ shipped, I am pretty confident this is in fact the 9K press they teased a few weeks ago about building.

I am not TOTALLY convinces, platen is quite different and no sleeves on far side.. Pictured OG 9K below...

It will not be long before we see pre-production SS BIW (CT exoskeletons) stacking up around the Austin factory to eventually be scrapped. 2023 is going to be an exciting year for CT reservation holders.

I went to the IDRA LinkedIn site and they posted the pic but said nothing about it so I am not surprised that you spent so much time trying to verify - or that you failed to obtain that verification. If only we knew when the first one shipped we would have he answer (sort of).

The Mesta 50,000 ton closed die forging press is different than IDRA GigaPress.
The Mesta 50,000 ton closed die forging press pounds/hammers billets of steel. The billet is a solid (though softened) but not molten.
The pressure is used to press and pound/hammer the billet.

The IDRA GigaPress is a die casting process. Molten (liquid) metal is pressured into a die/mold. The 9,000 is to the clamping force to keep the two halves of the die/mold clamped together. As the molten metal is pressed in it wants to escape by any easier paths.

At this point, they are most likely checking their own production for mistakes. Hate to send a huge part overseas just to have to have it shipped back because Bob didn't take the piston sleeve down to the right tolerance. Dammit, Bob.

Sometimes you confuse me. They aren't baking cookies here. Surely IDRA would assemble and test the individual components statically before shipping 1.2 million pounds across the world. It doesn't matter to them when it arrives but liability does.
