I thought the CT was a HW4 platform, but maybe I’m wrong (because I’m ignorant)?

Tesla said it was going to be the first HW4 system... not knowing that makes you ignorant, not stupid. Not knowing the difference in the two.... LOL

They said that, but then the refreshed model S that I have ended up being the first HW4. I think that happened because COVID delayed CT more than anticipated and the refreshed S ended up cutting the line.

I wonder if HW5/AI5 will come late 2025.

Musk even said that AI5 has around ten times the capability of HW4:

Then HW5, which has been renamed to AI5, in the second half of next year.
The Tesla AI5 computer has ~10X the capability of HW4 computer and Tesla makes the whole software stack.

You can find out if your tesla is configured with HW4 by looking at vision cameras. If it shows red (dot) in the Lense than it is H4.

Yes, all family of Tesla (SEXYC) build Mid '23 and onward are configure to HW4
A bit more nuanced to this but:
Model S/X HW4 started appearing in March of 2023
Model Y HW4 started appearing in June of 2023, but builds as late as September 2023 has HW3.
All Model 3s pre-Highland are HW3, and since Highland didn't show up until September 2023 I think, that is the launch of the HW4 there.

Tesla now displays the AI hardware version in the software menu of the vehicle :)

Yep! That was in one of the last couple of update updates!! Still easier right now to just look for red cameras. I wonder if HW5 will have such an obvious physical difference. Probably bigger cameras to accommodate bigger sensors/apertures, I bet.

Does anyone have thoughts on the connectivity? I believe I read the CT has a LTE chip. Was surprised it wasn't 5G. Seems outdated out of the gate but maybe chosen since LTE more ubiquitous than 5G ATM??
