I got surveyed!

Tesla Cybertruck JD Power sent me $1 IMG_0208 (1)

I took the survey, might as well give them some data, and I was curious. Many questions were still quite ICE-centric, like this one:

The Cybertruck doesn't really have a "transmission" per se, since it doesn't shift. They also asked things like "What do you like most about the transmission"?!??. Sigh.

Even when they asked EV-type questions, the choices were adorably limited:

Where is "L3 public charging"? Maybe they haven't heard of the SuperCharger network??

At the end there were better EV questions, possibly because of my previous responses. I gave high marks but was honest about issues I've had, like the intermittent tonneau closure problem.

I had no idea how to answer if my vehicle includes various ADAS features; the hardware is installed, and they're included with the purchase, but they're not delivered yet. I think I said "not sure" for those. I almost answered "not sure" for the question of Color lol, but decided that a child would describe it as "silver" so I went with that answer. ("None" was not a choice hahahaha)

At least I got $1

They were clearly unprepared to survey anyone on EVs... Kind of alarming tbh. Are EVs STILL this much of a mystery to such a large, influential, and frankly filthy rich organization?

I got one of those a while back and it had TWO dollars in it! Consecutive numbers even!! Not sure if there was supposed to be 2 bucks or one just stuck to the other...

In any case, JD Power isn't REALLY interested in making EVs look good... They are all about making HYBRIDS look good now... I remember reading somewhere about 2-3 years ago that they got a TON of money from Toyota to do 'studies' for them (private ones of course)... But it always makes me wonder why certain companies will win 'best of' awards from one place, but then a different place doesn't even make the top 5-10, but has DIFFERENT 'winners' instead...

Plus you can always skew the data simply by the questions you ask (and ones you DON'T ask) as well as the 'choices' they give you for answers... Like not allowing people to choose Level 3/DC chargers as how they most often charge...

MY 'survey' had 3-4 questions about 'spare tires'... They KNEW I had a Model Y (which we all know doesn't come with one) and the FIRST question was something along the lines of "Which type of spare tire did your car come with" and choice for full size, compact or none... Then of course the next question was "If your car did NOT come with a spare tire, was it an 'option'?" and, "If you don't have a spare tire, how do you plan on flat or damaged tires"... Plan on them? I plan NOT to have them by NOT buying one and NOT hauling around some big heavy thing I don't really need... But they didn't have that as a choice... hehe...
