The universal charger needs a communication wire to the power share equipment.
In a Powershare only system (no Powerwalls), the UWC powers Gateway 3V and they coordinate over RS485.
In a Powerwall + Powershare system, this comm and power line is not needed.

Even when integrated with Powerwall or solar, Powershare is not grid tied.
Regardless, coordinating multiple generators is not trivial, especially when they are not stable (solar), the total power level is small, and there aren't inertial loads to smooth things out (large rotary generators and motors).
Powershare requires a gateway; the gateway is grid tied.

You sure? Seems they already have wifi setup for that.

Your answer is just another excuse. You don't sell something advertise it and don't deliver on it.
Actually, virtually every software company does exactly that and I have worked for several that did/do it. So although I am sympathetic to the situation I think that your particular example is wrong.

Ok, in that sense. Grid tied is usually used to describe solar or other generation that operates while connected to the grid. Grid facing (especially service disconnect equipment) does have caused bunch of requirements.
Gateway 3V is basically a GW3, and adds a site controller and auto-transformer to create neutral. So the transfer switch side of things is carry over.

That is correct. They ran a control wire through my conduit and had to pull the wire that was there to do so.

I contacted PowershareSupportNA <[email protected]> a few days ago. They responded next day saying they are still working on the software with ETA soon, likely Summer.

Also waiting as have two Gateway 2s, each with 2 powerwalls, and each with a UWC. Annoying!
