Knocking noise when hubs are engaged! First time off roading

Was doing some slow speed off reading and stared to hear knock noise when hubs and engage.

You had lockers engaged? What were the surface conditions like?

Yes engage. Medium sized rocks no obstacles. Just uneven surface

Do you have any noises without them and doing tight turns on pavement?
You'll likely get unhappy noises if the surface is grippy and you're not going straight. These differentials fully lock vs limited slip so any difference in travel left to right loads up the driveline.
Did you need the lockers to get through? I've only used my front one on the dunes.
