The weather sealing over the top missing slat technique did NOT work.

The leak is not between the appliqué and the tonneau, it is between the appliqué and the roof glass.

Open the tonneau, and pour a little water on the roof. It should go around or over the appliqué, but when improperly sealed it will squeeze underneath.

There can also be intrusion at the tonneau gap, but the rain should just go over it unless it’s very misaligned and/or you’re missing a slat.

Update: Went to Thousand Oaks service center again to fix the leaking and get the missing slat installed (2 visits, 4 hours of driving + 7 days total in the shop for this issue), after going back and forth with multiple people via chat before the service and even showing the service advisor where the issue was at the applique seal, I received my car back. Unfortunately they did not address the applique seal like I had requested multiple times even though they told me they did a "hose test" and "only a couple of drops got in". On the plus side - the slat install seems to have mitigated water ingress by about 30%. See photos.
I've also linked to gopro videos of my car going through the wash before and after slat install.

The vault is semi-dry at best.
You have to put stuff in plastic totes in the back if you want it to stay dry, which is crazy.

That hasn't been my experience. I put duffle bags, soft luggage, and cardboard boxes in the bed and they can sit there through rainy trips and days parked in the rain and remain bone dry. I live in a very wet climate and my truck is never garaged. A couple of times I've even washed the truck with the bed full of stuff, using a bucket of soapy water and hose w/sprayer and everything still stayed dry. That's more than I can say with my F-150 with a BakFlip tonneau cover.

At most, I get a trickle of water running down the inside left and right edges of the tailgate but it doesn't run down the bed, even if parked facing downhill, it flows right out of the tailgate crack at the floor of the bed (regardless of parking attitude).

Mine leaked when new. This is what I did:

See that 5" wide aluminum trim piece at the rear of the roof glass?

Pop it off, it's easy (instructions in the Service Manual), and look for gaps in the foam strip that runs underneath it. Plug them with some self-adhesive foam weather-stripping. Put aluminum trim strip back on. Done. No more leaks.

It took me 20 minutes. I didn't even need any weather-stripping, I just plucked off a little chunk on either end where there was excess and re-stuck it back into the two gaps I found. Over a year later, no more leaks.

Appreciate that, that was the plan after this last visit. At least I got the missing part installed now I can DIY the rest.

Interesting thread. Today, going 65-70mph on a freeway, I heard a loud bang; followed shortly after by another, possibly louder bang. Pulled off the freeway and discovered I am missing a slat. I can only assume it came off due to wind forces and fasteners working loose. I'll schedule with my SC to get it replaced. I have just over 5k miles on my truck, over a 10 month period. Here's a picture when I pulled over.

That looks exactly how my truck came, it was missing that slat as well. I’m wondering if maybe the noise was something else but you just now noticed the missing slat. Originally I didn’t see it, someone here explained how to look for it.

When I first heard the noise, I feared it was one of the cantrails. But they were fine. Is it possible it was always missing? Not likely. I never had any leaking problems. I have not tried to hose it down since this happened. I just happened 3 hours ago. I test it with water and post my results. If correct, there could be a scenario where the slat was on when delivered, than came off.

Yeah, it's not possible for a slat to "fly off" if you know how they are interlocked and fitted within the side rails.

Since the last fix by the service center in Mayfield, Ohio (my fourth visit on this), I don't get ANY water on my back window or against the wall below the window even with a High Pressure Car Wash. It is bone dry except for some drops of water about a 18" off the back wall and it is super minor so I have not investigated it, but I wonder if there are loose slats or why I would get a leak that appears to be between slats 18 inches from the back. Again, I am pleased with the now mostly waterproof bed, but If I can figure this out it will be 100% water tight. It took a total replacement with a new Applique and some new seal they said was right by the roof glass. I had water coming down my back window through 3 other visits. I think it was the new Applique myself.

Update on my situation as well - it took two visits - slat install, post install leaking continued, then emphasizing the applique seal in between glass and tonneau being the major culprit (with video I shot in the bed while going through car wash), and they finally fixed the foam stripping in the applique. Now it is bone dry in the back!

Hi all has anybody went in for service for a leaking bed the cover does an ok job but the back left and right corners get pretty wet

Has anyone else experienced this?
