Sounds like you didn't really want it, got to experience it but then had major issues. The odds of you experiencing issues like that again are so rare I would hate to do the math or you just know you are super unlucky like 'Ol Reg here:

Kind of take offense with this. I was another early adopter and paid in full on delivery. Totally wanted this truck 100% and expected to get 200k miles minimum. I experienced very similar issues as the OP and am going through a buy back process now. I don't want to shit on Tesla, but would am extremely hesitant to get another one now.

A very high percentage of FS trucks have entered the buyback process. Check YouTube - Out-Of-Spec’s series on their CB buyback and their stats on others who have done the same. It seems that Tesla has rolled over on buybacks especially for FS CB’s - because they’ve encountered such a high level of design defects, particularly with the rear drive unit and related contactor failures, front suspension clunks, and delaminating stainless panels, it is apparently easier to repurchase than to go though the actual lemon law process or make extensive warranty repairs. They do stamp all of them as lemon law buybacks on the titles, even where it’s just done as a preemptive offer without a customer demand, and it is clear the numbers are quite large relative to total production. It’s good customer service and preempts negative PR.

I would love to know what happens to all of these CT buybacks.

Resold to Tesla employees at a major discount? Crushed to eliminate future liability?

Any updates, and details, on buy back? I’m considering doing the same thing. 🙏

Hey Mtnrunner,

Mine was bought back months ago at full price a few months ago. I had one of the very first units in Ohio and I had several issues across the board, especially the front drive.

For me, Tesla handled the entire process very well. Impressed enough that our next car will indeed be a Tesla again as they stand behind their stuff.

Agree with your opinion on Tesla support. We’ve had eight of them and will be sticking with them, they’ve been great.

My VIN is pretty early too; 7G2CEHEE1RA017xxx and I just asked for a buy back option. They are escalating to upper mgmt. I’d replace it with another Beast assuming it’s not too much of a financial penalty.

Well congrats on getting out of your truck, like some others said, sounds like ultimately you didn't want it and after all the hate and "failure" posts your buyer cold feet took over, while the OP documented countless issues, not buying another just tells me you're not as in love with the truck as you thought you'd be, so you're one of the lucky people who had regrets. I myself love my truck, it's an amazing truck and while it's very expensive, that's my only regret. However, other than that. Nothing about the truck itself i dislike except the stainless steel upkeep, i just spent an hour dryer sheeting bugs off it and wiping down fingerprints, to find a huge scratch on my front bumper, but i let my sons mom use my truck, so who knows when it happened. Very annoyed about that, but at least it's on the top, almost seems purposeful though. Which means i need to look at the videos

LOL - well, I guess you're entitled to your cold feet comments. I think logically and less with emotions to base my decisions.

I asked Tesla to make me whole - and left that completely up to them. My main concerns is that I used my truck....... as a truck. I went to remote locations non-stop for hunting and towing a travel trailer. Hunting was always solo and the trailer was with my family. When the truck failed the worst, it happened to be in remote areas.

As a daily driver it was fine. As a truck doing truck things in where consequences were more serious for me, it didn't do great. Tesla verified my repair history with my locations each time and decided on the full buy back option for me.

Will totally get another Tesla car when one of the existing ones we have die. The cars have also had many generations of iterations to get stuff right. Part of buying a new vehicle that hasn't had the wrinkles ironed out yet.

Cheers! Hope yours works fine for your needs.
