As i was driving on the highway, my light bar’s adhesive got completely removed and it was hanging on by the connection wire. I don’t want to bring it in for service cause it’ll take two weeks to get it in. Any manual fixes?
I used Gorilla double-sided tape (Amazon purchase) as a temp fix until I brought it in for the remount.

@truck where the light was mounted, after the light came unattached did you find the remaining adhesive on the truck side or the light bar side? Just curious where it's losing the grip.

That certainly hints at a manufacturing issue to me. Thanks for the clarification.
Well, that wasn’t a mystery. We already know tis because there have been discussions about there being a recall and there have been reports of several people’s light bars coming off.

Several have reported here that Tesla is supposed to be changing the way they’re doing the attachment and supposedly this is one of the reasons that the rollout has been so slow.

Beyond that, there’s just no question that this is on the manufacturing side. This is an OEM device and with the tiny collection of folks on this forum who have received them, and the number of which have been detaching, we know this is on their end.

The underside of the light bar is just as smooth & glossy as the top side, and there’s no scoring on it - and the adhesive has, in my case, also detached from the light bar, not the windshield.

My appointment is at 8 AM tomorrow for repairs. I’ll report whatever I learn.

I don't understand why they didn't use the roof mount points in the first place. No way I would be comfortable with any adhesives alone holding it.

Sure would have been nice if they could have been integrated inside the truck like we saw a few prototypes had.

Sort of on topic but veering off, you got the @Mars Adventure Gear rack right? How is that? It looks pretty legit and I’m seriously considering it. Have you considered their lightbar in lieu of Tesla’s?

I love the rack and it’s funny that you should ask your timing is kind of impeccable. I just got notification about an hour ago that my rooftop tent from Mars is going to be delivered tomorrow!!!!

It’s the whole reason that I got the rack and tomorrow my rig will be complete!!!

as far as the light bar no I would not be willing to change unless the OEM one fell off and broke and they wouldn’t replace it. (1) I really like the look it’s sleek refined and understated, (2) you don’t get the same integration with any aftermarket version, (3) how cool is it to look on your phone or your center console and see the light bar attached to your truck? That only happens with the OEM, (4) this still isn’t settled, but I believe that all indications point to the factory light bar being a FS/CB exclusive and if that’s true, then it’ll end up being the most distinctive indicator that you’re an OG badass!

can’t wait to get the tent installed and get out there with it. I’ll have lots to say about that in a couple of other goodies that I’ve received soon!

Congrats! That’s my dream setup, the rack + basecamp RTT. I’ll get there eventually - I have a NFS Beast but one of the first with all 8 mounting locations so it can be done.

All good points about the lightbar. I do want to know how the Mars lightbar activates. It’d be sick if they could integrate their activation into off-road mode somehow like the OEM, but that seems unlikely.

P.S. Can we get a screenshot of the Tesla app with lightbar?

I believe that all of the aftermarket ones are the same and they just get the simple on off accessory toggle under the lights menu.

You beat me to my edit…
Sure thing!

Interphase with slider for brightness and selection for ditch or floodlights, or both.

How the truck looks both on the app and on your center console after the factory light bar is installed. It also is animated in real time so if you turn the light bar on it’s on if you turn it off it’s off. In this image you can see that my light bar is on.

Light bar powered off.

I could start a new thread but figured I'd post here first. Have any of you had Tesla fix your lightbar then had your windshield crack? The oddest thing happened today. This morning, went on a short errand, everything was fine. Came back to the truck 7 hours later and I find 2 somewhat parallel cracks coming down the windshield. One was 3 feet long, the other atleast 2 feet. The truck has been parked all day and we didn't get weird temperature changes.

There was also pollen everywhere and it didn't look like an animal or whatever jumped on the truck to apply odd pressure. I just saw in my pics that the cracks seem to head towards one spot under the light bar. Did they drill something when they reattached the light bar? I had mine installed awhile ago and it started peeling up on the passenger side. It was recently reaffixed to the windshield but unlike the original install, they said I could pick it up the same afternoon; didn't need to wait an entire day like before.

Just not sure if it's a defect issue, warranty issue, or user error.
