10% of 24 hours is different than 10% overnight. The original post was 10% in 24 hours. I replied I also lose 10% in 24 hours or close to that a little less than 10 probably
Yes that my fault. I started the post titled it overnight and when I started posting the story I realized it was more than the “overnight”

1,210 kW will run a flux capacitor
Actually... that's 1,210,000 kW ;)

But yeah... 10% of 123kw-hr / 10 hours overnight implies drain that is equal to multiple desktop computers, which is ridiculous for what this system is doing.

no sentry or ac and sitting in a garage and i loose 2-3 percent. i charge to 80 percent when i get home and it around 77 in the morning seems to be normal. i havent figure out how to get it to hold at 80 percent.

it been losing about 12-15 percent per day sitting at tesla repair center in service mode awaiting a repair. not aure why service mode is such a drain.

I meant to try two things. Charge to 82%. Schedule to leave at 20 minutes before and set to charge to 80%

Hello OP: Could you please post the picture of what your CT battery usage displayed during one overnight period with sentry ON ? i.e. how much is attributed to sentry mode on vs climate control , etc... use cases.

Also How far you park your car from Home Wifi - the weaker the wifi or cellular signals could lead to higher energy used for TX/RX wireless communications. Also you could setup a laptop through your broadband router/Switch/firewall at home and run a Wireshark App packet capture to see what/who your CT talks to over Internet. Are There all sorts of video feeds sent to the mothership data gathering, to be used to train FSD? .... all the way to a crazy idea of a malware code that might be crypto mining while parked. at least you can ensure who/what your CT talks to over Internet. Sentry mode using 10% of 123Kwh massive battery per day for just recording video alone is absurd at best case scenarios (and in comparison with other home security solutions) , specially if there is no strong correlation to the number of sentry events.

Not sure if official Tesla insider folks monitoring these forums to better address questions, concerns and issues or even better educate all CT owners here...

I had an issue with mine.... it was losing almost 10% over night with everything turned on or off... took them a month to figure it out because there were only 2 reports at the time... but apparently it wasn't properly going into sleep mode and was causing issues... after they finally figured that out , I lose about a percent every 2 hours with sentry and 0% with it all off.

I had Sentry mode on and cabin overheat protection on at 100°. I noticed it was using a lot of power sitting in my driveway so I turned off cabin overheat protection. I don't remember how much I was losing but both have been turned on. I turned off Sentry mode because I have cameras with 24-hour Central Station monitoring but I turned it back on.

I don't understand why Sentry mode uses so much power.

Sentry mode sucks power and sucks in general. I came back to my truck after a movie and it'll read 5 events but only showed one clip. I had some people vandalize my truck and it didn't record anything with Sentry mode on confirmed.

Tesla service couldn't figure out why its not showing the videos and why its not recording.

I tested it myself, left the keys inside, went outside and banged on it.
Nothing.

I hope these cameras perform better with FSD, but so far no way i'd trust this system with my family in the car.

Because it's using hardware, designed for other purposes, that don't have efficient low power modes. Sentry Mode requires the AP computer (camera connections) and the MCU (USB connections) be active continuously. Those systems combined draw around 300W, which at 60 mph on the highway only adds about 5Wh/mi (barely 1%) but sitting in your driveway consume about 2mi of range every 3 hours. It actually ends up being more than that, because it keeps the car awake, increasing the drain from other systems as well. Dashcam is effectively free, since those systems are running anyway, Sentry Mode is a pig that's most practical for occasional use.
