Low voltage battery upgrade?

Can the low capacity low voltage 12v battery be replaced with a more robust one? A nice Dakota Lithium in there would solve some problems.

As I understand it there are still 12v components in the truck. Can someone with more knowledge chime in here?

Yes, there are down-converters for some devices, but the battery is a 48V one.

But what problems are you trying to resolve? I haven't heard of any.

There is a low voltage battery charge level that has popped up for some people that I believe could be easily resolved by a larger lv battery.
I haven't heard about this for the Cybertruck.

For other Teslas, sure, the 12V SLA needs replacing every few years.

But for the 48V Lithium in the Cybertruck, even if you wanted to install a bigger battery, you'd be hard pressed to find room for it. The battery is near the size of about 6 cellphones stacked on each other.
The Dakota Lithium batteries are huge in comparison. And the 48V Dakotas are 4xhuge, the equivalent of 4 classic car batteries.

Can you point to any threads or whatever that talks about the low voltage issue? I'm curious about it.

You have 120kWh of storage, which can power the mid-voltage systems with it's 48V DC/DC converted output. The MV battery barely even needs to exist, it's there for standby functions when the HV pack is isolated by the contactors.

The main pack is activated as needed to charge the MV battery. If this battery is low, there is a malfunction, and having a larger battery would not be helpful.

True, but if you're adding alot of custom components or draw, you might want to extend the lower voltage capacity.

I have a Dakota Lithium in my Mazda for that (and to connect to my solar set.)

What are these problems you mention? Please document, and post. Not just some people having issues with things..... Sounds like an S post to me.

To add another. The other forums for Tesla have been filled for years on people trying to optimize the 12v in Tesla's. Often fraught with results that were very undesirable.

It's a good thing people. Stop messing with something that has a purpose and is well thought out. Don't put another variable into it.
Sorry @Crissa the Mazda doesn't help in thos case in proving a point.

It's kind of like when the person goes into a Tesla service center and says I can't figure out why my car doesn't charge right?

Have you given any of your third party information to someone else to log in with your API? Why does that matter? Well, you're basically giving a third-party control of your charging.

Same here. Don't screw with a good thing on a Tesla. It's very hard to improve a 12-volt battery on the old Teslas. It is the most recycled efficient recycling process I think known to man.

Yet still people do it because they want to improve on something in their car and it screws up the communication when Tesla changes some parameter of the BMS.
