Just got my refund in the bank! Everything seemed to work out well! Thanks alot to Mongo!!
Glad you got it sorted out, sounds like the bill for your CPA may cancel out the tax rebate but glad after jumping through all those hoops you got it done.
You MIGHT want to consider making a "final summary" post of the issue, and your solution as I am sure there will be a TON of people searching and finding this post during tax time next year.

Considering it was my CPAs fault I wasn't going to be okay with any extra charges.

I'll see what I can come up with as far as a post, Mongo definitely knows more then me but maybe I can make a step by step or soemthing.

I think you can still edit your first post.
Something like post #50 gives the basics, but could look nicer.

Yea was just thinking something a little more organized, explaining the problem and giving the solution. I am sure this will be a significant issue for many about 10-11 months from now as they start filing for 2025.

Most people filing for 2025 will get the point of sale personal tax credit, only the first couple months didn't qualify and only the ones with a commercial truck could run into this.

It looks like there are 4,000+ 2024 CTs still for sale, so that is a good 4k people, plus some very early 2025s is a lot of people that will look at Commercial Clean. That along with the business only folks I think it will be a good chunk of 2025 filings, how many? who knows. But my guess is it will be in the thousands.

Question 5:

Does the VIN entered on line 2 belong to a new clean vehicle placed in service during the tax year? THE ANSWER IS UNBELIEVABLY NO!!

Question 7:

Does the VIN entered on line 2 belong to a qualified commercial clean vehicle acquired after 2022 and placed in service during the tax year? THE ANSWER HERE IS YES!!
Thank you! This worked for me.

Hi Mongo,

Having the same issues claiming the commercial credit. Bought two vehicles last year for my rental fleet. Getting auto rejected because of VIN not existing. Tesla refusing to provide any sort of paperwork.

I am confident I have filled out 8936 form correctly. Any ideas

is there something incorrect here? part 2-4 are empty.
That mostly looks correct, but line 16 should be blank (autofilled?) what about your main 8936?
Do you get an error code from the IRS when the return is rejected?

Yes - it just says that the VIN I’ve provided does not exist in the IRS database. Tesla will not send anything since it is not a personal use credit.

I dont think there should be anything at all in part IV where you have $4,000 since there is something there I think it's like you are applying for a used vehicle tax credit, is this vehicle used?
