Physical connection is not steer by wire and doesn’t allow for variable ratio steering which is what makes it great. CT already has a backup system. The lack of physical connection is not a merit though. I would absolutely prefer a vehicle with even a backup physical shaft connecting wheels. We have already seen examples of the steering going floppy because of some fault. I’ve been too long in the technology space to trust pure computers and electronics over a physical connection.
He didn’t give any hint to CyberTruck whatsoever. Zero excuse. He OWNED ONE. Also never clarify the double wipers. He was trying not to piss me off Ferrari. That’s ass kissing. He didn’t say it like he was kissing their ass, he kind of had a “this a weird way of doing it” way of saying I’ve never seen this before and he was referring to it having two vertical wipers.
I thought the same thing when I heard him say it, like dude cybertruck has it, and you had one. But I didn’t feel like he was giving the design praise. It felt like it was giving it some shade. To be fair. The single vertical wiper is a bad design, Elon hated it, it was just the only solution, that’s why the prototype didn’t have it.He didn’t give any hint to CyberTruck whatsoever. Zero excuse. He OWNED ONE. Also never clarify the double wipers. He was trying not to piss me off Ferrari. That’s ass kissing.

No I didn’t say it has physical backup system. It has a backup redundancy system. It has had 0 incidents so far with a failure or the steering system.CT does not have a physical backup system.
I know that steer by wire allows variable ratio steering. I would easily give that up for a physical connection.
(Remembering that rear wheel steer can still be done with steer by wire in that case)
How many miles of experience do you have in any vehicle with variable steering ratio and no physical connection?I know that steer by wire allows variable ratio steering. I would easily give that up for a physical connection.
Cars need to be beautiful, it’s not just function over form. A great car should have both. And at that price it should be beautiful. They should only show it from the front, it looks pretty good at that angle. From the side it is not a great look.
Hard to be too critical without driving, but it better feel amazing at that price.
Just recently an incident was reported where steering went.No I didn’t say it has physical backup system. It has a backup redundancy system. It has had 0 incidents so far with a failure or the steering system.
i would give up rear wheel steering before giving up the variable steering. I’d give up my CT before giving up the SBW, that is what make the CT the best vehicle to drive, remove that and it’ll feel like driving any other car on the road.
