Johnny Ives is no longer relevant. This was his dream of an "Apple Car?" Overpriced ugly POS. Dude, get a Tesla.

Everyone is missing the point of the Luce.

Ferrari manufactures roughly 13k cars per year and 95% of buyers are male.

How do you grow the business? You offer a Ferrari with softer styling that appeals to affluent female buyers. That's the new Luce.

I'll take the new Mercedes Benz AMG GT 55 and invest the $400k difference.
I’m just waiting to see what the new roadster has to offer to see who’s gonna get my $250,000 for my last sports car. But it definitely won’t be Mercedes.

They already had the California, the Portofino and the Roma. These did not grow the business.

He just posted a design review of the Luce today and one thing really bugged me. Regarding the Wipers, he said “never seen anything like it before” trying to kiss Ferrari’s ass. Dude had the CyberTruck and know damn well it’s the FIRST. The Luce has 2. one on each side. Both can cover the entire windshield alone so doing double wipes. Jony Ive must wanted symmetry but I ain’t replacing 2 blades mf. Glad it’s $640,000 bc I ain’t buying it.

CT isn’t nearly the first. I had a ‘97 Mercedes 320 diesel with a single wiper - and it was way better and more intelligent that the CT wiper - because it articulated in a way that got up into the windshield’s corners - AND was fully hidden when not in use. Mercedes sold cars with their MonoWiper for many years. It was brilliant.

I expect to see a lot of these around Palm Beach, sprinkled between the maids and home chefs driving Uruses to the market and child livery duty.

Just watched this again with a friend and noticed 2 things.

He wasn’t allowed to use his own recording equipment in the shoot and he wasn’t allowed to say Tesla or reference any of their vehicles.

Also, the comments are gold!

it’s a Ferrari the same way a PowerPoint presentation is cinema.

😂🤣😂🤣

I actually like it. Ferrari + Apple is nice collaboration. I think if priced more reasonable around $150k.

I thought the same thing when I heard him say it, like dude cybertruck has it, and you had one. But I didn’t feel like he was giving the design praise. It felt like it was giving it some shade. To be fair. The single vertical wiper is a bad design, Elon hated it, it was just the only solution, that’s why the prototype didn’t have it.
To be accurate, Elon doesn't hate the current wiper design. You are thinking of a December 2021 comment Elon made after viewing drone footage of a prototype Cybertruck with an early wiper version that was comically bulky. Elon explicitly rejected it ("That is not the production wiper") and called it the element that "troubles me most". By 2022 the wiper had been slimmed down, closer to it's final form that we have today.

When Elon talks, people listen.

Just recently an incident was reported where steering went.

The steering went limp on the Wheelin’ Diesel truck, making it tricky to remove. I realise that was quite drastic stuff, but it shows it can happen when electric systems go down.
Ha! I think you mean "Whistlin' Diesel. But, yeah, mechanical steering never broke from impact damage, did it? LOL!

I'm not sure where you come up with these ideas. You need to drive a vehicle like the Cybertruck with variable steering ratio to see just how much you like it. It's really one of the most ground-breaking features of the truck that I appreciate every time I drive it. Tesla really nailed it on the steering system. Now I'm too spoiled to drive my Model 3 Performance!

The merc 320 is a single wiper design, not a vertical wiper design. It hides the same way all wipers hide, below the hood, in a space that causes a ton of drag, which is why it’s being eliminated on EVs

Here is my take.

How do you grow a business that makes roughly 13k cars per year and 95% of its buyers are male?

You instruct your designers to soften the lines and make a sports car that appeals to females. Think of all the wealthy trophy wives, high net worth women, etc. that the Luce would appeal to worldwide.
