My cybertruck received a notification that it was ready to install the FSD 13.2.2 on Saturday, December 21st. Truck was plugged at 80% and I had started the update overnight. Woke up Sunday morning, December 22nd, and I could not get into the truck. It was completely dead.
I called in service and they had offered to tow the truck today, this morning. The tow guy was able to get the frunk open but could not jump the car to turn anything on.
Since it was left plugged and locked, the only thing it did for us was open the driver’s door. Nothing else. Since he could not get anything open nor take out the wall charging cable, he had to call it in to get a Tesla tech mobile. Unfortunately, they could not get anyone until tomorrow morning.

At this point, I have to clue what is going on. Had a mobile tech on the phone with me and nothing suggested worked. I hope this all works out. Family coming into town we’re excited to see the cybertruck in person during Christmas.

cybertruck is only about 8 months with 5400 miles. I don’t drive often, glad it is in my shop when this happened.

Probably larger than a software issue, if it’s software related a mobile tech could’ve reflashed your mcu on the road. Hope for the best.

edit: this guy claims it was an issue with his high voltage regulator, the actual labor to repair it should be quick, parts might take a while to come in though

Dang! If that’s the case, perhaps it’ll be quick. But their first try will need to be able to power to get the charging cable out. Then tow. If it takes weeks, that would suck. Hoping to get a loaner. Sounds like this is trickling problem.

You actually don’t need power to get the charging cable out (although there’s a high chance of breaking your charge port doing this) there’s an emergency release somewhere in the back, quick google search would probably find it. I wouldn’t do it unless you really need it towed and the cable is stopping you.

yes, there is an emergency release in the back that is accessible from inside the truck bed. Since there is no power, can’t open the tailgate down to access it. So it’s a flawed design.

Was heading to travel. Was about to leave. And I set to 80% daily.
If you're about to travel, 100% and precondition will get you the best range.

Too bad about it being unresponsive; that's pretty sad.

When you put power to the bus it should unlock the charging cable and tailgate as well. I hope they're able to fix it quick!

I wasn’t going far. Just about 150+ miles.

What other things did the Mobile tech suggest that did not work? Anything that's not already in the online manual?

nothing that was not already in the manual. He tried to pry the tonneau and tailgate to open but to no avail. So I suggested that I can take the wall charger off so it can be towed. So I did and the charger is still plugged to the truck. I guess it’s a flaw in my opinion because there is absolutely no way to get it unplugged manually when there is no power. He said they’ve had to cut the charging cable before.

so it was towed and hopefully worked on Thursday.

Dang! bad luck for sure. A skilled locksmith with a probe camera and flex rod could pop open the latch and pull the cable to drop the tailgate, but I'm sure removing the wall charger was cheaper and more expedient in your situation.

Ask the service manager if he would mind sending an email to the engineering team to see if it's possible to have the truck unlock/unlatch the charging cable before starting the update routine to prevent this in the future.

Luckily enough your bad luck can be mitigated in the future with a software update. good luck out there, please give us updates. I definitely understand the disappointment with wanting to show the new ride off to your family. Sometimes this is the cost of being a very early adopter lol.

No… they don’t… they recommend 80 as he did.
Recommended charge: 15-50%
Recommended charge limit: 80%

You should not always be at the limit!

It literally tells you 80% for recommended daily driving on the charge screen and in the app :)

It use to be (still is on our 2020 X) 90% for daily.
Anyway not the reason for this thread.

OP, any word on what they have found?
