Have you thought about setting up a WiFi mesh network to cover more area around your home, then your CT can connect to that in order to access myQ.

Been trying to get MyQ to work for a year. In my Rural area where cell phone coverage is poor at best, it just doesn’t work. Tried changing router on MyQ hub two days ago. Nightmare, since then have spent over 20 hours trying to get it to work. Time spent with MyQ tech support, three hours, resulted in worse problems and resulted in all manual clickers are now non-functional. SOMEONE NEEDS TO “YELL” in Elons ear” MyQ is not a solution, but is a problem. I WANT HOMELINK, it may not be high tech or sexy, BUT IT WORKS!!!!!!
Between myQ not working, or the stories of people having their garage door close when backing out I have resorted to the crank window version.........a garage clicker in my center console.
MyQ is a mess, and it is a PAID version, which is crazy.

My MyQ works great. I already had it working before I got the CT, so maybe that helpe. The subscription was ridiculously cheap.

It is absolute garbage the worst part is Tesla has a better system that is not available for the cybertruck.

Fully agree with OP. Homelink is the standard. It's what works with pretty much every existing garage door. To not include it as at least an OPTION (my '15 S came standard with it!) is a fail and frankly an insult. Paying as much as I did for my FS, I should not have had to dig up the old remote I hadn't needed for a decade, much less retrofit my garage doors to a subscription to a system that leaves me entirely underwhelmed.

It's a dumb decision on Tesla's part, full stop.

I am still waiting for MyQ on the legacy S and X. I find homelink to be less reliable than MyQ. If I approach my home from the west Homelink never opens the door. If I approach from the east it works every time. If I back in to the garage it sometimes fails and I have to have Homekit open the garage for me.

My 2018 S also had an AM radio. It's the future. MyQ works fine, if it doesn't it's likely your truck cell signal or more likely have an older opener that barely supports their own product. I have 0 issues with 1 opener 10 years old and 1 a year old.

I shouldn't have to upgrade my house and pay a subscription for a stupidly simple function that is offered in virtually every other vehicle on the market. Especially at the price point of this truck!

Seems likely to me that it was cheaper and easier to use the MyQ software system than figure out how to integrate Homelink hardware into the 48 volt architecture of the truck. Lazy. Just lazy.

We've had the incredible technology of a short range radio signal to open and close our garage doors for many *decades*... that just works. Now we can't do it without the Internet and a cellular data connection? WTAF... It's like deciding that a physical key to unlock the front door of my house should become obsolete.

There are aftermarket mirrors that have homelink built in. Cheaper than a MyQ subscription.
Got a link to what you have in mind?
is it just a matter of installing something like this or am I being too simple minded about it?

I had 0 issues with homelink and my Q is pointless I’m back using the garage remote. If I could would put homelink in my cybertruck. I have no problems with cell coverage either. for me MyQ is not worth it at all.

Do you not care to have to cancel homelink when you come home because the doors are already open? Or go to leave and kids are outside and don't want them to close? You can also turn off geo fencing and use push button. Its $45. I do wish it was rolled into the premium cost.

It'll probably require a few modifications, and a power source. I have a Screen mirror and pull my power from the Radio module in the ceiling, it's 12 volt.
